Hi,

Am about to assemble a new PC and have some critical doubts. I want to run EVE with all settings maxed even in larger fights, like 200x200, 400x400 ... Actualy my PC frozens or slows down to a speed that becomes unplayable when i join fights like 100x100 or even less...
What i want to know is, considering i have a good video card:

-EVE is more CPU or GPU dependent?

-a quad core Core i7-3820 or a hexa core Core i7-3930K what should be a good option? more clock speed or more cores ?

-i also have a option to go AMD and assemble the PC with cheaper AMD AM3+ FX8120, should i expect considerable performance diferences against the intel ones?

I also acept a configuration sugestion of cheap machine who will run EVE smooth in big fights but

Thanks for the help

top 690 SLI (x2 or x3) + top core i7 :)
or even 2xXeon :)

P.S. AMD (ATI) have raelly big troubles with Cooling.
P.P.S. got i7 and SLI, and had no lags in 50x50 FW on maxed settings with 2nd eve client, but 2nd was on low settings

I would say EVE to be pretty balanced between CPU / GPU at the moment, mainly because of the graphics upgrades like new missiles effects, better shadowing and v3 skins.

I don't think any pc is able to handle huge fleet fights with max'd out graphics settings and brackets & max. overview enabled. That's just the way EVE has been set up.

However, with an i7 (3770 or alike) and a GTX670 you should be able to handle 250x250 fleet fights with graphics settings at max, but only by disabling brackets, limiting overview settings to exclude non-needed stuff and disabling AA, AF and HDR.
Disabling AA and AF may cause your game to be more pixelated, but the performance decrease is just not worth the benefits on big fleet fights. Besides, with such fleet 1 volley is usually enough to kill an enemy ship, which doesn't give you enough time to right-click "Look out" before it pops.
Don't forget that distance also makes a huge difference in performance. Like a sniper 150km off has better performance than a Heavy Interdictor next to the enemy fleet.

Because EVE is not multi-threaded, less cores and higher speed will benefit it more. (Quad-core seems to be standard nowadays.)

I'm not going to start any AMD vs Intel wars, I'll just keep it at my opinion: I'm favoring Intel / Nvidia combo.

Ultimately it's all about how much money you are willing to invest, and which settings you think are important for your game experience.
