Mining lasers doing a trickle of thermal damage is only normal and to be expected but I dont think it wpould add value to the game tbh... (l0lz for sure though...)

But Amarr ships resist thermal! They should deal explosive.

And then Amarr pilots with mining V can finally get Lux and Blaze crystals Twisted

Ah, I see. Friend from STO \o

If you have in your hands the key to the fulfillment of your life's ambition and superiority over most, if you are aware that there is an absolute power on hand (just over the basic moral principles) how far are you willing to go and through what you are willing to tread?

I mean come on, the prospect of having geniune Battle Noctes is simply too awesome not to want.

It's battle Nocti.

And I will only agree to the tractors pulling in if I can get repulsors to push out in retaliation. Then, even more hilarity can ensue.

no, use this module we can split enemy fleet more easily instead of rush into a huge number of ships and be podded i think

Any time you come up with an idea you'd think would enable you to divide and break up a blob, you should always ask yourself wether the blob can more easily utilize the ability to opposite effect.

There you go, get four tractor beam ships going different directions and BAM! Drawn and quartered!

That, or the ships with the tractor beam get pulled to the heavier ship - which would probably make more sense but isn't nearly as funny.

I think it'd be more fun to use salvagers on a ship. Nothing says 'HA, gotcha good' like flying away, leaving your victim in a pod and your hold full of their ship in the form of scrap metal pieces and salvage. Scram, Web, dismantle.

I think tractor beams could work like this with some rules.

Only the strongest tractor beam will effect the target.
A formula using the mass of the ship and the size of the tractor beam and the power grid to determine the strongest tractor beam.

A tractor beam can only pull a target ship that has a mass =/or less than 1/2 the mass of the tractoring ship.

A tractor beam max pull is 500m/s. If the target ship speed is more than 500m/s then it can break away.

If the target ship speed is less than 500m/s then it gets pulled toward the tractoring ship at 500m/s - the portion of the target ship speed vector which is away from the tractoring ship. I.E if you are in an orbit around the tractoring ship your speed vector away from the tractor ship is zero and no matter how fast you are going you will get pulled toward the tractoring ship until you change direction away from the tractoring ship.

Target ship can change direction and accelerate away from tractoring ship while under tractor beam which will effect the pull rate.
And if it can reach a speed vector directly away from the tractoring ship greater than 500m/s it breaks free.

Going to warp would break the tractor.

A bunch of Suicide Noctis Alts and a Bomber Fleet.

I'm going to start working on a Noctis PvP fit ! Woo hoo ! That would be hilarious.

There is a use for tractor beams discussed a while ago: tug boats, or ships that can "ferry" fully configured, unpiloted ships while at warp using the "special tractor beam". Not saying that is needed in EvE, but I think is good example of an appropriate specialized use of a tractor beam.

Nowaday many good games have a skill that can pull a enemy to a close range position so that a warrior with a close range weapon can more easily attack him.

Go back to WoW. This is a terrible idea.

I thought of one use for tractor beams I'd really like to see, though I doubt it'd ever make it into the game. I'd love to be able to tractor my sentry drones around! Cool
