What's the deal with the "XXXX Citizens" alliances in the south

What the heck is that all about? I get that they are tagged to some larger, benefactor alliance with a similar name, but why do they exist in the first place? Why is this a feature of the south but not the north?

They're renters. The North doesn't have renters.

Their names are so unoriginal. So what do the pets get in return for having an unoriginal, suck-up alliance name? A nice pat on the head? Their bellies scratched?

Also, why doesn't the north have pets? Don't you want them? Why would they not be of some use to you?

It's not that they're unoriginal, they have to pay to get access to that alliance. If they don't pay, they get booted. That way they can join with their own corps.

And no, we have tech in the north. Also, we'd rather have our space used by useful allies.

Renters aren't pets. Renters pay you money and you ignore them. Pets you can yank the leash of. The north has plenty of pets - more than the south has, as near as I can tell (which is pretty far.)

I can't say why the north doesn't have any renters, but people have agreed to rent space out from the Goons and the Goons have greeted their new business partners with the betrayal you'd expect.

I took some time away from important internet lawyer stuff to look on the sov map in the north. I looked for these mythical beings called "Useful Allies". I was unable to find any. I saw a bunch of Goon pets, But no useful Allies.

Given the usual definition of a pet in Eve-Online is a smaller corporation or alliance that pays for access to space and allies they normally wouldn't have I fail to see why you continue to refer to our allies as pets given they've never paid us a single ISK. On top of that many of the alliances we're allied with were already Sov owning entities before we allied with them.

Were you unfamiliar with the definition of a pet in Eve-Online or is the idea of a genuine alliances between player organizations an alien concept to you?

You asked me once, what was in Room 101. I told you that you knew the answer already. Everyone knows it. The thing that is in Room 101 is the worst thing in the world.

The term renter and pet is used pretty interchangeably and both groups get their chains yanked... most frequently by being abandoned by their masters when things get tough... another thing Goonswarm doesn't do to our allies.

"pet" is interchangeable for any small member that relies on a large coalition, "renter" is a term used to describe alliances that pay other alliances for 0.0 resource access.

Renting was fairly common in the North as well once upon a time but declined as tech moons replaced them as a primary source of revenue.

It's where the main alliance members put all their botter alts, and whitewash the ISK by paying unrealistically high 'rent'.
