Dear CC(c)P,

Is it so hard to implement link blocker in eve?

-"Do you want www links to be displayed in your chat windows?"

Yes/No
Oh, hey its much faster to ban pilots for bad links.... Twisted

Can you fix overview or is it to hard?

Let's use jita for an example.

Imagine having to scanning every message sent there for whatever you want blocked, for every player.

say there is 2000 players in system, and spam is running, half the people in system are blocking stuff, then that's 1000 message scans every time someone posts something in local..

Do you know you can block people?? If this is possible why we cant filter out links???

Client side!!! Not server side.

Are you serious? :)

A block and a filter are not the same, a block simply.. blocks any message from the player, a filter will have to sift through all the messages, of all the players talking.

Personally i get quite a bit of lag moving around jita (true i could stop multiboxing while doing it) and i don't think having a script sifting through the contents of every single message of the channels i am in will help that..

Yes ... it is. If you don't want to follow links, don't follow them, it's as simple as that. You're on the internet, you should know better than to click an unknown link to begin with. If you click a strange link on the internet, it's on your own head.

While the tone, grammar, etc. of the OP is horrible, the idea of a chat text filter isn't horrible. A client side filter wouldn't bog down the game at all. It's not like computers aren't able to handle the processes involved.

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

Seriously... you click on the links and you want ccp to fix it?

Would you prefer a single or a double tap?

Eve is about Capital ships, WiS, Boobs, PI and Isk!

So its not a game for 12 years old.

Maybe its time to change PEGI classification.

I think being able to block links is a serious must for CCP to implement.

You may not necessarily want to block another Capper's comments but instead rather their links.

It would work rather easily.

When you click on a Capper's icon there would be another selection under "Block Comments" called "Block Links"

Select "Block Links" and the Capper's (Capsuleer) links would be blocked but you could still read their comments.

I have come across alot of links that say one thing but when you pop them into your browser low and behold there is a naked woman spread Eagle before ya.

Stuff like that needs to be able to be blocked in order to save the young children from horrible nightmares.

Such images can also hurt the reputation of CCP and EvE Online for the simple reason that if a child is playing the game and comes across a link of a naked woman and then tells their parents what do you think will happen?

Gossip and rumors start about EvE Online supporting porn which will detour young players from returning as repeat subscribers for years to come.

I believe that you are entitled to be yourself but there is a certain......there goes Anuirson running naked across the the media channels in Jita again.....see that is the type of sh*t that I am talking about. Young kids don't need to see that stuff and if such stuff is too occur then Capsuleers should at least keep it to theirselves by sending each other emails containing the links

You seem to have 'conveniently' overlooked the disclaimer, "Online interactions not rated by the ESRB". That means that CCP isn't responsible for what other people say or do, it comes down to the fact that it your fault (and yours alone) for clicking any link in the game. CCP doesn't pretend to be able to police every single link that anyone puts in chat, hence the disclaimer that what other people say in chat isn't their fault. Yes, they do their best to clean up bad offenders, but it's not their responsibility.

Time to visit your therapist then. Such a shock that must have been.

Exactly!
Satan is not asleep, we must act to protect our youth from this abomination.

Confirming that kids these days do not know anything about naked women and that they are not familiar with at least a dozen of adult-content sites.

Thank you for providing me with good lols Dryson. It's appreciated, truly.

Before speaking about such things you should really make some research first. That way you will not look like an idiot.

As far as PEGI Online ( that is the relevant part here ) goes : all requirements placed upon CPP are being fulfilled ( want to know what are those requirements - do your own research for once )
As far as ESRB goes : "ONLINE INTERACTIONS NOT RATED BY ESRB"

Get your facts right.

As for the idea itself : why?

I support this. I also would like a filter to block all posts from this OP.

[edit] To prevent an argument of semantics I would like to change the word from block to filter.

It's also important to remember that this is a signature.

Why would you let your child play an MMO?

When I play, the screen is positioned so I can see kids coming, and they're not allowed to come into this area, ever.
Hell will freeze over before I let them play any MMO.

Sounds to me like irresponsible parents passing the buck to CCP.

THIS

Holy freekin bad judgement... sure, MMOs such as this can be a lot of fun, but we have some truly sick dudes throwing out anything they think might shock other really sick dudes.

For a parent implying concern over what a child sees, the job of filter begins and ends with you.

Don't try to draft strangers for this job, it's yours alone.

I started at 14.

Then again, I'd seen worse stuff in 8th grade than what is posted in local.
