I had a buddy invite who subscribed using a "non-eligible" method and then bought a PLEX on top of that to get some early in-game cash. I sent in a petition and they gave me the reward.

I'm not sure if my friend's follow-up purchase of a PLEX is what helped, or if they would have given it to me even without it, but they they didn't raise too much of a fuss when I asked for it.

At the very least, send in a polite petition. You might find some success with that.

In the cat-and-mouse game that is low sec, there is no shame in learning to be a better mouse.

Tried that, which is how I received the GM's response that, because it was specifically Steam, and because of fake accounts in the past, they were opting to deny both the Reward and the petition.

The problem, is why ANY outside source is denied, if they can validate the account was invited and summarily upgraded and continuously played on from a different location so as to also validate it isn't a scam account setup to rip off plex.

Just out of curiosity, did you actually try to petition this before you ran to the forums? There's an outside chance that purchasing an account through Steam might not 'flag' whatever system it is they use to issue the rewards...

Perhaps they'd still do it manually, if you were nice about it. Perhaps not.

The question still remains though, of whether you approached them before pushing the drama-button...

Because it's CCP making the offer, therefore it's CCP - not you - making the rules. If CCP wanted to ask you to sing a song and put it on youtube before receiving your PLEX, they would have the full right to do so. If you don't feel the rules are fair, you are free not to participate in the promotion.

If I was a sarcastic person I'd say that you are just upset because your scheme to exploit the offer via Steam won't work.

Since I'm not a sarcastic person (LOL) I'll simply point out that most promotional offers have restrictions.

I'm pretty sure the Steam and other restrictions have always been a part of the Buddy Program.

Next time, read the fine print before you use a promotion.
