CCP, do 'Snake' Implants still give Smuggling Chance Bonus?

Just like the thread title - Do 'Snake' Implants still give Smuggling Chance Bonus?

I noticed in-game that the 'Snake' implants no longer list the Smuggling Chance Bonus in their attributes tab.

I'm sorry, I must have missed the Dev Blog stating that 'Snake' implants would no longer give a Smuggling Chance Bonus.

Obviously the text has been removed from the Attribute info, not sure if it's a bug or if the bonus effect was actually removed.

Anyway, thanks for confirming that you don't know either.

I made 4 jumps though highsec with drugs and didn't get fined. This confirms that, yes they do.

I believe CCP mentioned some time ago they wanted to revamp smuggling. Given this reason, they were removing the attribute from snake implants. The actual revamp has yet to be implemented though.

Yeah, I know they mentioned something about making smuggling more viable but I don't remember them saying anything about removing the bonus from Snake implants.

They removed the description because as it is, the bonus wasn't working anyway. So even before that, it didn't work.

Does railgun ammunition come in Hollow Point?

Snake implants make you go faster. but you can only do this 23% of the time.

There is no smuggling bonus in any implants right now. ...not that there really is such thing as smuggling right now anyway. Smuggling is supposed to be a part of the new Crimewatch but that might be vaporware. CCP Greyscale seemed pretty pumped about Crimewatch a few months ago but they might have abandoned it since... I've actually been trying to get an answer to that myself. There are some unpublished implants that give you a smuggeling bonus, but if they are even still in the database under the theoretical Crimewatch they will be pointless because you will have a "suspect" flag if you are carrying contraband. The players will thus be enforcing contraband laws in highsec. You might dig up the Crimewatch thread and bump it... I think I'm on /ignore.

No. I've gone through entire regions w/ contraband and without implants and never gotten fined. The mechanic is hosed.

Not quite, they removed it from the description because they didn't actually know if it was working Lol

Apparently the guy who programmed smuggling etc. made the code incredible complex and unreadable, and then left.

I also made several jumps through highsec with out Snakes, got caught on half the gates, but didn't get fined or have the stuff removed.

The OP of that thread doesn't mention anything about carrying contraband or about smuggling and I don't feel like reading through 36 pages..

I remember a while ago CCP buffed NPC Customs Officers to scan everyone going through Jump Gates. I heard quite a few players got hit by Customs with ISK fine and standing hit. Sometimes confiscation of the contraband happened as well. I even forgot about some contraband in my cargohold and Customs hit me with the big three - fine, standing hit and confiscation.

Some unpublished smuggling implants in the database? Could you provide a link to those?

Anyway, I watched the 2012 Fanfest Crimewatch Video and one of the questions at the end (37:25) was if players are smuggling contraband, will they also become flagged as 'suspect' allowing other players to shoot them. The answer was basically no.

I think this is probably closer to the truth than what most players think.

After CCP had buffed NPC Customs Officers at Jump Gates, there were reports of players being concorded while clicking yes to the Customs confiscation pop up message or being held by NPC's and getting hit with multiple fines resulting in their wallets going negative into the billions, basically due to the game mechanics being bugged.

I wouldn't be surprised if CCP has disabled that due to being bugged. One thing is for sure, they definitely wouldn't tell us about it.

Thanks to all for posting but the question still doesn't have a definite answer. Some say yes, others say no which is typical for the Eve Online forums. Everyone has a different answer based on their own experience or opinion. Definitely need an actual CCP statement or some official data linked on this.
