AN INSPIRATIONAL STORY !

When i read this section of the forums, i always recognize myself in the new players asking if they should try pvp at their 'age'.
An enourmous enthousiasm and sense of adventure came over me when i started plaing eve.

During my Turorials I fleeted an unkown character in a huge hauler while flying my first rifter. I was ready to escort the convoy and protect it from dangers.
This person turned out to be my first CEO of a player corporation and my fleeting request turned out to be my ticket in. A few days later i ventured into my first wormholes and got randsomed and almost left behind there without exit by a senior player that supposedly wanted to explore with me. .. Betrayal.

I wanted to become an elite pvp pilot and started focussing skills on pvp, at 10mil skillpoints i could join a pirate corp. I was playing for more then 6 months before i reached that amount. Since then i've been living in lowsec, various npc nulsec and sov nulsec regions for a long time.

However... the good news is. It can go much faster.

This is the story of Violent Delaney

Violent joined on 2011.05.19. She wanted to do industry and pvp. She started training mining skills first for income and then she went for combat related skills. On 2011.07.24 She got her first kill flying a hurricane battlecruiser in lowsec, and flying it well fitted. On 2011.08.02 She lost her first hurricane... In 0.0 security space. Her character was less then 3 months old, killing, surviving and flying with pro pvp-ers. She made a profit while loosing ships doing industry and mining on the side.
She was self sufficient and had seen highsec, lowsec, and nulsec life (including SOV space) and pvp in less then 3 months in the game!

And she did well.

Unfortunately after a year at 2012.04.07 she put her character to sleep in Stain because of private reasons. She had accumulated over 10 billion in her wallet at that time and had 94 registered kills versus 14 losses, since she started playing the game!

Moral? Go for it young nublets ! It is possible, inspire us who play the game longer and remind us we all felt or still feel that sense of adventure and enthousiasm when we started playing the game. Hell, it might even get some of the old grumpy vets out there in space actively seeking adventure again.

o7 to Violent and you starters. Make a change and a difference in our EVE !

Cheers for the good experience.
IMO, it might have been inspirationnal without the paragraph about her leaving after a year. As is, it feels sad, because she apparently didn't find the motivation to continue playing despite an apparent succes in-game.
RL happens, but otherwise, I seriously hope I can meet more people than I already did, that make me enjoy the time I spend online, the MMO part makes me expect to build ties with others over time, maybe meet some at next year's fanfest... :drunk:

But yeah, go out and shoot stuff!! :nerd:

Sad rather than inspirational tbh. Every time a player leaves Allah kills a kitten.

The kitten murder does make me sad though

Bump because i keep reading posts of new players thinking they can't pvp at lowskilled characters.

And for all the kittens of course!

New players need to know they really can do whatever activity they want in eve.

They just need to keep one thing in mind

Listen carefully. Its aplicable on many levels.

Noir. and Noir Academy are recruiting apply at www.noirmercs.com I Noir Academy: 60 days old must be able to fly at least one tech II frigate. I Noir. Recruits: 4:1 k/d ratio and can fly tech II cruisers.

Rookies should watch the alliance tournament on YouTube. They will notice just how essential tackle and EWAR frigates are, even the top PvP levels.

I too, have an inspirational PvP story.

I brought a friend in to the game 2 months ago. On his second week, he killed another frigate in lowsec that was full of faction & some deadspace stuff.

Pretty inspirational stuff right there.

One of the things I like about this game is that real-time-based advancement means that I'm not necessarily wasting the time I've paid for if I have to work a lot and can't really play for a month or two.

Indeed Greybeard!

Just to add dear nublets, you don't need a bigger ship to kill a bigger ship:

Please remember the following:

Rule 12 wrote:
Spamming, bumping and pyramid quoting are prohibited.
Spam is defined as the repetitive posting of the same topic or text or nonsensical posts that have no substance and are often designed to annoy other forum users. This includes “first” and “go back to another game” posts. Bumping posts in order to keep them near the top of the list is also prohibited. Petitions or "signed" posts are a version of bumping and likewise are not permitted. Pyramid quoting is a response to a forum thread that contains the quotes of four or more previous posters, sometimes with additional spaces added unnecessarily. Posts of this nature are not conducive to community spirit and are unwelcome.

I will say the same thing. Do not let others tell you what your not capable off.

I have been doing what I do now since day 5 playing this game, just because your facing a player alot older than you are in pvp, does not always mean an instant win for him. A young player is able to contribute to a fleet as well as kill older players on his own.

Although it entirely depends if you want to pvp ofcourse. That is just from my side.

BTW I also remember Violent Delaney in C&P. But then again I might not.... I am very bad with Names and it does look familiar.

If you have in your hands the key to the fulfillment of your life's ambition and superiority over most, if you are aware that there is an absolute power on hand (just over the basic moral principles) how far are you willing to go and through what you are willing to tread?

I will not bump it up again. Now instead of retyping the whole story again i like to be able to point some players that feel lost and to new to this threat. Do i understand that i can't link it there either?
