Hybrid Rebalance: Aims CCP need to keep in mind.

Hey,

Just discussing the aims that CCP needs to keep in mind, rather than specifics.

I'd say:

1) Give them scope for fleet combat.

2) Make Gallente usable in wormholes; races vary with effectiveness, but shutting a whole race off from content is a bad idea.

I just think overall, whist, yes, Caldari should be best at pve or w/e, they're not shut off for pvp, but the same doesn't apply for Gallente boats. The game changed, but Gallente didn't change with it.

As a former/future Gallente WH pilot, I definitely agree with the aim of making Gallente ships more useful in W-space. I have to admit, though, that I don't really understand what it is you mean. Give them scope? Could be a telescope, could be mouthwash. Either way, I'm intrigued.

And how would you say the game changed such that hybrids got left out? That seems to be a common sentiment but I haven't seen a good explanation for it. Hybrids have worked pretty well for me so far, I guess.

Scope as in, more ability to do so. A greater role, so to speak. I feel as it stands, in a fair few cases, there are better things to bring in a fleet fight; far better. I can think of a few scenario's to bring a subcap gallente ship, but not many.

If you're wondering what happened:

- Gallente were armour tanking, drone spanking, close range face eaters.

- The nano-nerf removed the ability to "nano" a ship (fit oversized burner/MWD to get real close).

- Web nerf reduced the webifiers ability to hold targets down.

- EHP buff made it take longer to face-eat.

- The game moved from small-scale combat to large-scale combat.

In that final point lies a key issue. Gallente are fine for small scale combat, but try and pull any of this in a fleet and..well..
The game literally changed, but Gallente were not rebalanced to deal with the changes. Baring in mind, I'm not asking for OP-ness, just the ability to do stuff that otherwise Gallente ships are left out of.

Thanks for the great reply. I hope the upcoming hybrid rebalance puts a little more punch back in the Gallente arsenal.
