So how about a round of applause for the "good" ones?

Their reputation was so strong and ingrained that the word "byzantine" means "of, relating to, or characterized by a devious and usually surreptitious manner of operation".

In the 12th or 13th century, a Byzantine princess was wedded to a Venetian nobleman. She insisted on eating with a fork.

What was said about it at the time in the West?

"God in his wisdom has provided man with natural forks - his fingers. Therefore it is an insult to Him to substitute artificial metallic forks for them when eating."

"Of the Venetian Doge's wife, whose body, after her excessive delicacy, entirely rotted away."

Seems like just another caricature from a time when something as simple as eating with a fork was portrayed as a sin against God, which brought upon her death.

Coffee used to be "Satan's drink" as well until the 1500s, when a pope declared it "fit for Christian lips".

This game is not for those who want to be heroes.

There is plenty of room for heroes in Eve, its just that no one ever steps up.

If you paid isk to get into GoonSwarm, you were probably scammed.  If you had the foresight to save the name of your scammer, let me know and I'll do what I can to help you.

He's an exploiter. Supercaps have never been buildable in Empire space, yet he has the Veldnaught right there in Amarr.

Hey, doesn't CCP take away assets from people they believe to have abused exploits?

One time when I was running some missions in between nullsec stays I get a familiar sight on my overview in the mission area; a t1 frig. I wait for him to sheepishly mosey over to one of my wrecks and start salvaging. Not terribly bothered as the mission was not so much a form of isk, but something profitable to pass a few minutes, I ask, "Why do you ninja salvage?"

I get a reply back, "Ninja salvage?"

I take the bait, as this has to be a troll, but instead it turns out that he was in fact directed to do so by a corp mate. Feeling generous, I ask him, "Would you just like the rest of this salvage? I can clear the next few rooms for you, I really don't need it."

"Sure!" he said.

We chat away through the next few rooms about his corp, his thus far EVE experiences, and better ways to turn a profit. All the while he seems dead set on salvaging, he said it was "exciting for him." Feeling even more generous, and having a few spare isk, I ask him, "Would you like a Noctis to make this whole thing easier?"

"Sure!" he said again, why wouldn't he?

I deposit enough for a fully fit Noctis in his account, and he goes jetting away saying "I need to go skill up the ship real quick, brb lolz." Yup, figures, being the nice guy has once again caused me to fall fo... oh crap, he's back. In a Noctis.

He says, "You have aggro?"

A little surprised, I confirm. Suddenly a wave of nausea comes over me, most likely from the meal I had eaten not just before, and I go afk while still in the mission to take care of it.

Over a half hour later I come back to a long string of "Hello?! Are you there?!" in local with him sitting patiently in his Noctis right beside my ship, still in the mission, with me still getting shot by rats. I apologize for leaving without saying something, and tell him that I'll finish up this last bit of the room and call it a night.

The few rats left were cleaned up quickly, and I say a hasty goodbye, as I'm not feeling well again. I warp back to station, exclaiming "Aww crap, my drones..." Not too bothered, I did just give away a Noctis. We say goodnight to each other, and I log off.

The next day I log in to get my stuff ready for nullsec again, and I see I have a contract.

"5 Hammerhead IIs" from the dude from last night.

Made me crack a smile. A stark contrast to not only the typical strangers in the EVE community, but also to what most pilots are like in highsec.

The Veldnaught is a Dreadnaught (-naught, geddit?). A Dreadnaught is not a supercap. Cap ships were once buildable in empire space. The Veldnaught was built in Empire space. You need to learn how to troll better. I suggest seeking advice from the many experts in your alliance.

As far as eve heroes go, I would nominate Vaerah Vahrokha, a wall of text poster who riles lots of the denizens of MD. However, when not driving people mad VV also acts as an auditor who is willing to spend dozens of hours to get the job done right as community service. Moreover, VV has raised about 200billion in donations from other MD posters to give to the Red Cross during PLEX for Good drives. Using eve to generate thousands of dollars for worthy real life causes makes her a 'good one' in my book.

And another: helped out a guy, gave him some money (1 million ISK), a new ship, (Vexor), and some skills. I like running contrary to 90% of EVE encounters, where it's one person eyeing up the other like a juicy steak.

There's plenty of evil in EVE, time to bring out some good.

Thank you!

I have tried bringing in something different to EvE, in order to break the "EvE chocking full of sociopaths" stereotype.

It's perfectly possible to keep the "cold, harsh universe" setting while bringing in some novel setups that seemingly go against the flow. It makes the sandbox concept more free form and surprising.

I am expecially affectionate to the RL charity fund, it's a break through way to transform useless fiat currency into tangible aid to populations in dire need of help.

Here's my own "good guy" story and what made me believe in EvE having good people:

When I had just started the game, I had my alt jet can mining in a bantam and another hauling the stuff out.
A can flipper decided to play his game on his AF.

Since I did not appreciate thieves I promptly warped to station and reshipped to my Big Nasty Rifter (which I had to use a MAPC just to fit it with T1 modules, I was *that* new). I don't know if this made me "the newbie with the right attitude" or not but it's how I deal with who stomps on my turf.

The fight was like: I kept hitting him and he would not really die, nor he would kill me. He manages to out-run me and breaks scram and flies away.

Few seconds later he's back in a Vagabond plus neutral RR and kills me very fast.
Seeing his coward behavior I started to "lightly" smack him on local chat. He acted all mighty and smart.

A random guy called Roful Koptur convoed me and asked me if I needed help.
I told him what happened and he immediately invited me to his corp (of about 30 men). He gave me another hauler and did to repeat.

So I returned to my alt who kept mining and once again I got that guy stealing off my can, this time directly in his Vagabond.
But this time Roful and several other guys appeared off a near safespot and tackled him and killed him.

Since that date, Roful invited my alts, gave them countless T2 fitted ships (BCs, Hulks everything) both for hi sec and 0.0.
He was a good friend in game and we had so much good times (at the same time I had epic times on this character in Dark Rising as well, in the face of the cold harsh universe).
Sadly one day he had to quit for 2 months. He made me a director of a corp with 42-43 billions worth of assets including BPOs, multiple POSes and so on.
He returned 2 months later and could only play 1 more month before he had to quit for 6 months (this was a very hard blow for me) and made me CEO.
He returned 6 months later, I gave him all back and life returned awesome again. Sadly after 2-3 months he had to quit - forever.

He made me appreciate e-friendship to a different level, I wish I could help him in his troublesome RL now.

As a testament to him and the Market Discussion community (a bunch of weirdos but many are cool people) I decided to try give back. So I became auditor, how tos writer and the rest quoted above.

EvE is a cold harsh universe... with many warm and nice people inside.
