Here's an idea CCP.

Right click -> Self Destruct

popup window:
"Are you sure you want to self destruct? Your ship will offline all modules to feedback and overload the capacitor in 2 minutes."

All modules offline.

Lore is easy

Self Destructing becomes a risk, and people who get blue balled out of killmails will be happy since this kind of mechanic would give them a chance.

possible addendum; self-d's with players on the km give out km's every time, only loot/no-loot is decided by whether the ship successfully self destructs or not.

You could add the self destruct to the damage on a km, so no matter what the killings get the km and the stats

For all the KM hoes out there

and NO INSURANCE

ffs you are blowing your ship up yourself on purpose

that would stop the self destructing dead in its track, at least 90% of it

You are about to engage in an arguement with a forum alt,  this is your final warning.

The whole point of SDing, is to deny loot and a KM for the aggressor. I'd like to see where you get this magical 90% figure from TBH.

@ the OP

So what if they SD'd? Your mission was accomplished and they died. They just happened to take advantage of your lack of fire-power and deny you any shiny stuff.
The scuttling of ships is a long held tradition, I can't see why this shouldn't be adopted as a game practice too.
