My twelve step program to not being a terrible carebear:

Step one: Make yourself a hard target.
Step two: Keep your eyes open.
Step twelve: Fight back.

EVE operates on precisely the same mechanics, hell, it even lets YOU be the judge, jury and executioner.

oh so i am just supposed to run and hide without the ability to do anything at all but sit their and twiddle my thumbs for hours just because some slackers who don't want to earn their isk honestly decide to crowd a system and one shot anyone they can, you people really should be locked up

so, do you want to be safe, or do you want to play the game? like I said, EVE operates on the same rules life does. You can sit safe at home all day or you can brave the real world, take risks, have adventures.

you will lose sometimes. just like in life. but if all you want to do is find a safe little corner and do one thing forever at no risk, then you're never going to go anywhere.

yes but also in the real world if someone assaults or kills you they get life in prison or capital punishment!

I would love to imprision toons in this game, where is this mechanic? I would litterly sit there ant watch until they self distruct in the pit I have in my Caldari apartment at 4-4

You never played Ultima Online did you? That place was deadlier than EvE

actually I did, and at first there were plenty of safe areas, but that changed and i quit, but the eve experience can not be reproduced by any other game currently in existence and i really do not wish to give it up, but it would be nice to have the option to turn off my ability to be targeted by a pvp'er for either no reason, or as i have experienced lately the in game racial profiling, where goonswarm decided that all gallente space has to be protected by them from miners that aren't gallente who aren't willing or able to pay their members a fee of over 250million isk, i don't even make that much in a month

Bwahahaha

You sir.. really need to look at your options for making isk. There are literally dozens of ways to make this much isk in an hour, much less a month. Of course.. most of those ways would require you to actually compete with others instead of just mindless shooting roids.

mining is fun for me, the other ways in this game i don't find fun, i don't go around ruining your enjoyment do I?

The fact that you enjoy mining ruins my enjoyment of the game.

it's unfair, childish, rude, and in reality crimially insane, is this a game or a terrorist training camp?

atleast let us set a PvP status, other games do it, and don't say that makes it less fun, what fun can come from picking on someone who doesn't wish to fight you, bullies the lot of you Pffft....

pffft...AHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAH
Set pvp status? Your PvE server WoW guild called, they said they want their healer back.

maybe i would fight back if current market prices didn't make even the best insurance not even give you a fifth of the isk needed to replace a ship better than an ibis, let alone the replacement of the overpriced modules

t1 ships have fantastic insurance, and higher tech does not mean better. it means more specialized and higher resists.

Because clearly, a Rifter is a staggering investment and to properly fit it?

Only the Alliance Lords of Nullsec Alliances could afford such a thing.

You should join an alliance like mine that provides reimbursements so that with insurance+reimbursement I'm actually making money losing ships.

Excuses, excuses. Those who are shooting at you are playing the game with the same mechanics as you are.

I miss uo and their pvp.

Who also did huge battles at Britania bridge just tossing energy bolts back and forth? There is nothing wrong with pvp in this game. If you fly an expensive barge, put a tank on it. some invulns and a damage control II will keep most of teh weaker gankers away.

Why Can't I have a picture signature.

Also please support graphical immersion, bring back the art that brought people to EvE online originaly.

I don't know. Why do non-PvPers act like terrorists to others who like PvP?
Quote:

It's a PvP game. What's unfair, childish, rude and in reality criminally insane is that some people want to reap all the benefits and pay none of the costs and then have the audacity to bawl their guts out when others insist that they play by the rules. Not to mention wanting the power to influence others without being influenced themselves.

What you're asking for is essentially this: since there are chickens and produce in CS_Italy, you think it's unfair that other CS players keep shooting you in the face, when all you want to do is tend your farm. The insanity here is not on the part of the face-shooters, but on the person who chose to play CS instead of Harvest Moon.

Other games are not EVE, and do not have the interconnected nature of EVE, so they can do that. EVE cannot. But sure, let's explore that idea. Here's what will happen when you turn "PvP Off":

You can no longer use S&I slots.
You are no longer allowed to access or use POSes.
You are no longer allowed to rent or use corp offices.
You are no longer allowed to access the market or contracts.
You are no longer allowed to launch probes.
You are no longer allowed to use the on-board scanner.
You are no longer allowed to use any kind of untargeted offensive module.
The only things that show up in your overview/bracket list are stations, jump gates, and NPC ships and warp gates that spawn as part of your mission. All other items (player ships, wrecks, loot canisters, asteroids etc etc etc) become un-interactable.

…and that's just off the top of my head — there are plenty more restrictions that need to put into place. Such as (roughly and at least) a six-week switch-over timer so you can't flip-flop between the two and terrorise the PvPers.

If you don't want to PvP, then fine — you're not allowed to PvP in any of the ways the above tools and functionalities let you do. Now, do you really think that it would be a fun game to play if you couldn't do any of the above?

It's your choice not to engage in the core activity of the game, so yes. If you don't want to twiddle your thumbs, you can choose that as well.

If you don't think this is awesome, you're missing out on what's best about eve. FYI this is a huge market manipulation on oxygen isotopes.

Sometimes other players will gank you, scam you, or do any number of unsavory things, but it all contributes to the harsh, rich , dynamic landscape that is eve online.
