All In One Exploration Fits

I finally got to caldari battleships and have been messing around with missions but I am slowly growing bored with them and want to move over to exploration. I've been looking for exploration ships and the majority of people seem to be raving about Pilgrims. Is the Amarr ship line preferred for exploration ships? I was looking to get something with cloaking while I get my bearings. Are the Caldari Cov Op ships underwhelming, or is the Pilgrim just that awesome?

the Gila is a great choice for exploration if you ahve good drone skills

T3 Cruisers are definitely 'Top Of The Line' ships and good idea to work towards. However, the Force Recon Cruisers are great as a poor mans alternative to T3 Cruisers when looking for 'All In One' high security exploration ship. They can fit up Exploration modules and still fit up Offensive and Defensive mods. They can pretty much handle most of the high security exploration sites and can cloak up for last stage of expeditions in low security.

I used a Rapier for a long time and it worked great. I was able to fit up Codebreaker, Analyzer, Salvager and Probe Launcher along with tank and DPS without having to refit very often. For expeditions I would switch to pure Offensive / Defensive fit up with cloak. Would carry small secure containers in cargohold filled with those modules and extra munitions, allowing option to travel around without needing to stay close to a 'Base Of Operations'.

Basically would complete 'On The Fly' all Hideaway & Burrow Cosmic Anomaly, Magnetometric, Radar, Lookout & Watch Cosmic Signature, DED 3/10 & 4/10 and all Expeditions gained from those sites. Would also do the various Landmark Beacons showing in the Overview.

The Hideout site is set up for Frigate and Destroyer class ships and the Vigil site is more for Battlecruiser, T3 Cruiser and Command class ships.

EDIT: To answer your question, I think the Pilgrim is so popular because of a combination of the CovOps cloak and the fact that a large proportion of its DPS comes from drones, leaving you free to fit the cloak, a probe launcher, and a salvager or two without gimping your damage output too much.

The CovOps cloak isn't absolutely necessary, though. It's mostly useful for getting through gatecamps and being hidden while scanning, both of which you can do with a Prototype/Improved cloak if you can fit an MWD.

I've been thinnking about a ninja fit for a frig I high sec. I can almost fit it into an imicus but thought the maulus might be better suited for the task. Any thoughs?

There are several ninja fits for frigs including the standard.

1. Straight up looter salvager, you want fast ship and cheap like vigil to zip around looting and salvaging, if you get popped no loss it's only 300k max for new ship. Don't fit rigs.

2. A straight up brawler mainly t2 assault frigs who if agro'd by a mission runner can actually fight back and take down a ship that is getting agro'd by rats.

3. A frig that is fast enougth to survive mission runner agro particularly his drones while keeping mr scramed untill super secret skills are used to ruin mr's day and 6bn melt his bling 17bn isk high sec fit.
