Currently doing the trial account experience and its pretty cool. Did the tutorial about scanning anomolies and have to wait for the probe launcher skill to train to move on to cosmic signatures, so writing this in the mean time.

I was planning on starting out in this game a bit as an explorer, scanning down different kind of signatures and seeing whats there. Does it have decent rewards for a new player to get going and make a decent amount of cash?

Sure. It's a bit of hit and miss and a bit of luck but you should be able to find some decent sites :D

Looks for the Mags, Radars, and the "Unknown" complexes. Make sure to blow up structures that look suspicious, they can lead to an escalation that will eventually lead to the greater prize..

I found a complex that someone cleared out, but didn't blow up any structures in. I blew up a NPC base type thing, and ended up on an escalation that made me a few hundred million ISK. True story.

It's worth noting that in hisec, your rewards are going to be less than the example Petrus gave (he explores in lowsec). Also, in hisec there's a ton of competition, so you'll probably have to move to some out-of-the-way region without a ton of people to find sites regularly.

However exploration is definitely a good way for a new player to earn ISK.

Another explorer checking in.

I find it interesting. Its hit and miss like everyone says. But the hits tend to be delicious and keep you trying at it.

It can be frustrating. If you like it, training up the probing skills are important.

However, once you venture out of high sec you need to have some cloaking abilities and some NPC pewpew abilities to deal with the NPCs in the sites.

Thanks everybody!

Yes, I spent my entire friday night playing around with giant balls in space... :p

But it was lots of fun. Im the kind of person who likes to play around and see how things work, so I just started putting out scan probes and scanning, noticing how the strength became better for certain patterns of probes. I had almost nailed down a site when one of the probes expired, but that was fine. I needed an excuse to go to bed anyways.

And now, the next day, Im here again, training up Astrometrics since I noticed there was some skills that will help me with this.

Having a blast this far. Thanks for all the help. :)

Alright, another question for the helpful people in here....

I found the gravimetric training site. It had lots of interesting asteroids inside and I wanted to try and mine some of them. So I made a bookmark to one of the asteroids and tried warping back to it after the mission was completed. But its just empty space now. Also the gate to the area no longer exists at the coordinates it did before I completed the mission.

So if one would like to mine the asteroids inside one of these, does it have to be done before completing the mission? Or is there any other way to get back to them later? Seems a bit weird that they just disappear from space in a persistent world so just wanted to check.

You have to mine before the mission is completed. Once the mission is turned in the pocket created goes away and takes its tasty asteroids with it.

The value of mining the mission is often worth more then the value of turning the mission in before the bonus runs out.

But remember, people can scan you down in a mission site and come enter it to say hi.

Mission pockets disappear as soon as you complete the mission. If you want to mine the asteroids you have to that before you complete the mission. 2nd option is a second account, the site doesn't disappear when there is still someone in it.

For general exploration: the site despawans when the trigger has been activated. So in a hacking site, as soon as someone activate a hacking module on the container and then warps out it despawns.

Ok thanks guys. :)

Sorry to spam you with these explorer-specific questions, Im sure there are forums for this, but...

Im kind of stuck on the last mission where you scan down the Ladar signature. Ive done this, and went to the site. There is a gate there, but I cant use it since I dont have the Ladar Passkey. The agent says it was given to me, but not true (I think). I only have a Gravimetric Passkey. Ive looked in the hangar and in my ships hold.

Yesterday at some point, I got the Gravimetric Passkey and I think it was from the agent, allowing me to pass the Gravimetric mission this morning. But Ladar Passkey... cant seem to get it or know where to find it. It seems logical that it would just be given at the time of the mission but I cant find it.

I also looked through my journal but it doesnt have the description of earlier completed missions, so I cant really get clues from what it said in earlier missions either.

Edit: I found this information where it says Im supposed to get it from the agent when I accept the mission as I understand it: http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Ladar_Site_Scanning

Any ideas?

Look in your assets (the safe icon on the left bar) and in the search field just type in ladar. If you have it in a hanger somewhere it should find it. I'm just suggesting this in case you have moved to a different station.

If you still can't find it, I think I have one sitting around that I can give you.

Exploration is an excellent career to embark on and it can be very lucrative.

I have looked everywhere but cant find it, so would be awesome if you can give it to me somehow. Im doing runs for another agent now in the mean time but I want this exploring mission completed. I want to get it done. :)

Yeah its a lot of fun to track down the signatures and see whats there.

This game really is a true sandbox... I feel like I can do anything without getting punished for trying. Doing some agent missions has helped me learn so much things in this game, while also making a good amount of cash without even thinking about it. And Ive gotten some skill books, implants and even on my way to get a Iteron cargo hauler worth several hundred thousands of isk...

Thats a lot for me at this stage, even though I read that some people farm npc battleships for hundreds of millions per hour in 0.0. But im happy with these rewards. Im 2 days old. :)

There are some bugs in the tutorial agents. You can petition it and you likely get the passkey as it's a tutorial mission and CCP really don't like upset new costumers

great thing about exploration is you will find **** every where.

Yes the most valuable stuff is in low or no security but really you can find signatures any where.

Noir. and Noir Academy are recruiting apply at www.noirmercs.com I Noir Academy: 60 days old must be able to fly at least one tech II frigate. I Noir. Recruits: 4:1 k/d ratio and can fly tech II cruisers.

Woah woah woah woah woah.

Woah.

Woah, now.

It's a PvP game at some point you're going to start getting punished for trying. A lot. On a regular basis. Probably within a few days of the switch to low-sec or w-space anomalies, if not earlier.

(Don't let that discourage you, obviously. Scanner ships are cheap and exploding's just part of the game.)

If you're still stuck, have a look in your contracts (in the business menu in your Neocom).

She would have to buy one, keep in mind you can't send contracts to people on trial accounts.

Edit: Sorry, you can send the contracts, people on trial accounts can't accept them though without a full account.
