Everyday ,
starting at 11:00 and lasting for 15 minutes to half an hour
the tranquility goes down for "maintenance"

I wonder what are the server farm techies doing during those few minutes
Must be like watching hamsters on coffee running around in circles lol

Maintenance is all routinely scripted - apart from patch deployment which requires a unique script.

Edit - server is in London, game devs are in Iceland where its Friday and midsummer. Scripts 4tw I feel P

I don't know about the scripted part, sometimes the server goes off way past 11:00 and comes back up just 5 minutes or less later, a script would have been much more strict, 11:00 AM, bam offline, no matter what.

Unless of course the script is failing at those times and someone has to come in and do it manually.

what you complaining about... for all srs players, downtime is your allotted sleep for each day

They basically gave you a lie-in and you are complaining?

I'm loving downtime these days, pretty sure one day it only lasted about 6 or 7 minutes. Compare that with the average downtime of 70 minutes or so back in 2005 Shocked and that wasn't even on patch days.

Even in 2009 it was close to the full hour most of the time then gradually they've managed to decrease it. probably after they retired Scotty the Docking Manager.

DT's time, works out good for me, cuz soon after I leave for work. But once we turn the clock back, it'll be an hour ealier.

Tho, I was surprised that DT is really only 20 mins at the most.

Scripts, particularly database scripts, can vary in time depending on how much data they need to manipulate in a particular run. For example (and this is a completely made up task), if they were "deleting" destroyed ships from the database. One day, 1,000 ships are destroyed and it takes 1 second to delete them. The next day there were massive fights in 0.0 and hulkageddon, so there are now 10,000 records to delete that takes 8 seconds.... Put that across hundreds (guessing here) of tasks and timing can vary. The 30 minutes is your long run time, sometimes it doesn't need that much to be done and they just bring it back earlier rather than holding it for the full 30 minutes.
