EVE is a hobby, not an addiction!

Ok so, personally speaking i think its a bit of both; I love this game, it is my favourite hobby to the point were i am addicted. Addicted because i cannot get enough of it.

The main reason for creating this post is to feed my curious mind; i'm curious as to how many total hours you have played? that being the total time logged in, not your actual char D.O.B.

I started playing at the end of 2009 and according to Eve HQ and Eveboard i have racked up a total of 230 days total playing time.

Is this too extreme?
How long have you played for relative to your age?

I am interested to see the results.

Wrong. EVE is crack for people who don't do drugs. But the crack taker has really high tolerance to the crack so it's boring crack.

According to my Xfire profile, I have 1100 hours on EVE. That's nothing, though. I have well over 10,000 hours on one character on FFXI.

Some context, since that's always important: When I started playing XI, I was 16, bored with school, and not into partying. I therefore spent ALL of my waking hours not at school playing XI. This continued for 5 years uninterrupted, until I began taking breaks of ~6months. Two years into that FFXI stretch I was introduced to EVE, but I didn't fully immerse myself into New Eden until much later, and even then only until my alliance collapsed. I've just been coasting through EVE, building up my final character selections and looking for a corp I can actually enjoy while still vanishing for months at a time, as my interest in EVE waxes and wanes.

I've averaged 3 hours a day over the last 5 years. But that doesn't count time spent making angry forum posts.

I enrolled in EVE rehab once and dropped out. Now I'm old /and/ bitter.

Is ~25% of your time, both asleep and awake, too extreme? Assuming you are either employed or studying for a solid 8 hours a day and sleeping approximately the same, would you say ~75% of the remaining time on one activity is too extreme?

It seems extreme to me; but hey. Different people have different priorities for their lives.

Every time I see someone call a video game or chocolate an "addiction," I imagine a cleaned up heroin addict smacking the stupid out of that person.

Edit: Really? The name of the drug made from poppies is censored?

Rehab is for quitters!

Star Wars: the Old Republic may not be EVE. But I'll take the sound of dual blaster-pistols over "NURVV CLAOKING NAOW!!!11oneone!!" any day of the week.

OK go tell your Drug Counselor 'EVE is REAL'.

I'm surrounded by Trolls. All this negative feedback means we'll just be getting new forums released before DUST goes F2P....

Building things (empires, corporations, ships, etc.) is a hobby.

Raiding is an addiction.

I have been playing off and on since 2008, have recycled multiple characters thinking I was done, and keep coming back again and again... Yep, addicted.

I wonder what step 'admission' is in the process... What?

I'm not sure whether it's the EVE, or spending all of my working day browsing EVE forums, other fan-forums, searching the internet for guides, blogs, stories and videos, or the time spent on EFT, or just theory-crafting about the game, or thinking about EVE or run on sentence or EVE being in my dreams or talking about EVE with my friends, or spamming a relatively dead Skype conversation with EVE related tidbits.
