What is the minimum distance to reach before you're invisible on overview? This seems important in setting up tactical engagements, or avoiding them.

It depends, grid sizes are mutable. However, they're usually in the 250-1000km range (typically around 300-450km).

The grid size can be manipulated to a ridiculous size in either way, big or small.

If you want to, you can basically make the grid around your pos so small, that every attacker that want to shoot that pos has to come so close, that he has to get into the pos shields to be on grid with it.

And of course you can technically make your grid as big as you want to. You only have to drop a can right before you drop out of the old grid to expand it.

If you want to know more about this kind of things, you should look up the published document "Grid Fu" from Goonswarm.

Here is a link to it, so you don't have to google. ;)

Manipulating the grid in this way has been deemed an exploit in the past.
