all I got out of my quick skim of that was its not against the law to steal from criminals but it is to steal from other people, thus criminals arn't real people and don't fall under the jurisdiction of law.....therefore..... I should be able to kill anyone freely with no penalty of law retaliation....Cool

I always find it odd that no one says that the suicide ganker is a few week old alt in a NPC corp that is a throw away asset?

And how pretty much using it in this way is completely circumventing the sec status mechanic...

"Oh look I got kill rights on a 2 week old pilot but can't blat the tit next to him ready to salvage and loot his targets", yep that makes sense ¬.¬

Recycling alts with low sec status will get you banned pretty quick.

My point is that there is no way to retaliate against the actual aggressor. Just a puppet shield they use.

There's no way to gank the actual miner. Just a puppet hulk pilot they use.

There's a decent chance you can figure out who the ganker's main is based on their name, or their corp history, or the name/corp history of the cloaky scout or Orca pilot. Even if you can't, all PvP is between the two toons that are on the field, and normally you can't connect alts together. Plenty of people have RvB alts. So how's that different?

Keep a nado on field and make the gank unsuccessful. That's a pretty decent punishment.

This thread is bad, and the OP should feel ashamed of him/her/itself.

Star Wars: the Old Republic may not be EVE. But I'll take the sound of dual blaster-pistols over "NURVV CLAOKING NAOW!!!11oneone!!" any day of the week.

Those that complain are doing it wrong. Kill a few more rats and run a few more missions.

If you get your sec status high enough, concord will assign you a special escort detail, which offers comprehensive protection against all forms of aggression and theft. They will also place an indestructible bubble around your ship, thereby enabling you to smack them in local without fear of reprisal. Same gfoes for faction standing, when I am in Amarrian airspace, I have at least 10 assorted Amarr Navy ships with me, and several Amarr Customs. The former is for escort, the later has something to do with my cargo, and it isn't the tobacco.

Why are highsec bears so unimaginative? Someone steals from your can -> ALL your corpies can shoot at this 1 person.

Its like a free ticket to bait and kill wannabee pirates!

Would be nice if the theif became flagged to everyone in the system rather than just the noob and his corp. That might even things up a bit and encourage alot more high sec pvp.

2) It would get tons of alt haulers killed (miners don't actually have a reason to be in a corp atm)

This sounds like a feature to me.

Also didn't CCP say at fanfest that they were planning to make it so that if you flipped a can you become a "suspect" and vulnerable to everyone? So this is probably coming.

I actually like the idea of a sec status penalty for taking out of a container you don't own. The variant multiplier thing is stupid, just make it equivalent to shooting someone (no status hit if the target/owner of the container/wreck is a red, otherwise something like 0.15%).

Disclaimer: I don't actually think this will protect anybody, I just think people should be encouraged/forced to keep their looter/hauler alts in-corp where they can be wardecced.

I also have a solution for eliminating grieving - CCP can actually fly ur ship, that way u can continue to **** on ur fuzzy little tail. This concept that folks in high sec are victims is getting old. You have been given protection - it's called the ability to make informed decisions. If I flip your can u can

A. Fly away
B. Grow a pair
C. Out think me
D. Ignore the fly that is I

But since you decided to whine, then I feel compelled to counter wine. Let things continue as is, and stop the dumbing down of Eve.

Why should stealing from a trashcan be a Crime? Surely if you valued the stuff, you wouldn't have jettisoned it into space, right?

stealing from peoples cans is fun i'd be pretty sad if they took it out - and yes i jetcan mine with 3 miners to pick up 5+ cans at once with an orca. i accept the risk and i've been stolen from maybe 3 times. ore thieves don't really make much money but its fun.

the most fun though is having 3 indy pilots warp to a few cans and scooping it all up at once Lol

btw you CAN go hunt the dude down. if you are smart youd have an orca with a combat ship to take out the thief . they usually pilot indies and take a little while to warp off... i wonder how well my 15 hammerhead Is would blap a T1 indy... that would be priceless. unfortunately i've only been stolen from 2-3 times so wait, why are we even whining about this in the first place?
