Unique Racial Ships

I was looking at the Scorpion and the new Merlin and I was thinking it would be interesting if the Scorpion embodied what the Merlin had in fighting style. I.E. Dmg Bonus, 7 Guns, Resist Bonus, Killer Tank Shield Brawler type thing. Yet the Fleet ECM Scorpion is well looked upon and people don't want that to change. If they added say a Scorpion Mark II it would bring the Merlin combat style to a higher level.

Yet the first thing people would say is Racial Inequality, why does Caldari get an extra ship and what are you going to give Gallente a Damp Domi, or a TP Phoon with no Damage output like the Scorp to equalize the numbers. Not ships people would want that much.

What if instead they added real uniqueness to the races by adding modified ships of the current T1 models that donate a different style but they don't do it across class lines. There are lots of ships people want to see that are insanely popular that never get made because they don't want to take away X Role from Y Ship or create 3 more new ones.

So Caldari say gets that Missile Naga, Amarr a HAM Prophecy, Minmatar an Artillery Rupture, Gallente a Drone Catalyst. Caldari gets a Hybrid Scorpion, Minmatar a Mini Phoon inspired armor Cyclone, Amarr a Torp Baddon, Gallente a Fleet Battleship Mega. Apoc tactics styled Omen / Rocket Cormie. Trade offs.

Lets them add more imagination into ships per race without a strict regiment of equality. Roles we are used to and understand but using different racial styles. Of course if done, after they finish there current balancing kick.

Something to chew on.

Instead of something like that i would love to see something along the line of Faction Dreadnaughts..


Make the BPCs an officer or 10/10 drop item only and like a .5% chance of drop.


Make them a little better then the standard dreads but with models to match the race. like 2% more resists and 2% more damage.(One race gives tank the other gives gank)over the standard dreads. 10% more damage and resists.



They would be rare enough to be worth the isk but not as rare as a Revenant that no one would ever field them.


Angels can have 4 Projectile turrets - 1 low slot
Guristas can have 4 Launchers - 1 low slot
Sansha Can have 3 Turrets + 1 extra low slot
Serpentis can have 3 turrets +1 extra low slot

I like your ideas OP, CCP has talked about "ship lines" in several posts. i took this to mean at some point we could see destroyer/cruiser/battlecruiser/battleship sizes of say the new Merlin role (turret damage/resists) I have a feeling the Ferox and Moa might end up like this when they get to balancing larger hulls.

I think instead of reusing existing hulls for a new role, why not new hulls altogether? (yes yes, art backlog, fix current ships, etc)

... you mean you want a Rokh with a damage bonus?

Yes that would be cool too. It has enough tank to get by without the resist bonus and Naga like gun damage would be deadly but a Scorpion Merlin would be great as well.

My point is that a shield tanked BS with a resist and damage bonus designed for brawling is a blaster Rokh with a damage bonus. The only difference is the model the hull is built on.

And after I read through your post a couple more times in detail, about half of what you suggested is already in the game in some form or another.

Artillery Rupture: It's called a Rupture ... with artillery
Hybrid Scorpion: A Scorp has 4x Missile hardpoints and 4x Hybrid hardpoints already and no weapon damage bonuses. Just go ahead and fit hybrids to it
"Mini Phoon inspired armor Cyclone": The Minmatar already have an armor-tanking three-weapon BC, the Hurricane (it happens to also be able to shield tank if needed too)
Fleet Battleship Mega: Not sure what you're asking for, but you can already use the Mega in fleets and there's already a Navy one too
Apoc tactics styled Omen: A cruiser-sized laser sniper? You mean the Zealot?
Rocket Cormorant: Flycatcher and Heretic are already rocket-based destroyer hulls (though they'll likely add in some T1 missile based destroyers when they make some new destroyers like they're planning to)

All in all, it seems like your post really isn't that well thought out. There's a lot of ships out there already, I would suggest using the ones you have to their fullest potential instead of asking for new hulls.

That is not the only difference and you should know this. No Neut Slot, small drone bay, lower speed, higher cost, different mid to low slot count.

There are a lot of differences you can make between the two but that is irrelevant. This thread isn't about my ship selection at all.

All in all, it seems like your post really isn't that well thought out. There's a lot of ships out there already, I would suggest using the ones you have to their fullest potential instead of asking for new hulls.

Wow a 100% misunderstanding and being snotty about it at the same time, that is rare.

Most of the ships you suggest are not suited to the role and / or are T2 at that. The idea is to create offshoots of current hulls designed to meet new T1 roles and if you don't like my personal examples create your own. I am not asking for specific ships but copies of ships that meet other roles and design philosophies.

Here focus on this part here. Unique extra ships for all races. The hulls are not sorted by class so if Gallente gets a Battlecruiser then maybe Amarr gets a Battleship. That way if a racial fighting style could do better with a new X class ship that meets its needs they don't have to create 4 more ships but make a Y class ship instead.

And my point is that there are already ships out there which can be used, you just have to be willing to break from FotM. There's never only one way to fit a ship, being willing to use the ships already out there is better than simply asking for new ships.

Why.

Prophecy with a Khanid Paint Job and a HAM Dmg Bonus would be flown and would not unbalance the game for an example. People have been asking for that one. The thing is people would have fun with those types of ships. Unconventional fits are fine and people will still be surprising other people with weird fits till they shut down the servers.

Doesn't mean they should not add ships people want. The point of this suggestion is that they don't do it on a class by class basis. Just throw in some of the popularly suggested ship idea's whatever they may be. No one would loose fun over them, there is only fun to be gained.

I will still break Flavor of the Month, I have an XL Aux Booster Ferox for instance. I would break them with new ships as well.
