EVE uses flash?

IF true, that would be a bigger security issue than saying your password on twitter.

EVE does not use flash. Flash may mess with GFX rendering somehow.
On adobes page they say Mozilla browser user have trouble . Don't know if it is realated.

Firefox user here, no problem with Adobe Flash (however always use security plug ins)

FF user here.

massive frame rate drop, from 60 to 10 when Running Firefox/ watching youtube videos (Not full screen) on second monitor since the adobe patch.

Flash Update .257 caused huge issues with Firefox. Flas .262 has allegedly made thingsbetter.

I had huge issues trying to get my virtual Firefox package working when running with a bundled Flash .257 Evil

Mozilla blame Adobe, and vice versa...

Speaking of flash, when is the in game browser going to get flash support? I hate having to alt-tab out of Eve to watch my p*rn.... ahem I mean youtube videos.

Really we can't use the abbreviated word for pornography? Why does that trigger the censor?

So, when Flash causes problems for Eve and other programs that are completely unassociated with it, and it completely fucks with Firefox (or other browsers) scrolling and other rendering.

... and you want to introduce it into the Eve browser, a very rudimentary Chromium implementation which is rendered in a hacked-together window system on top of a 3D environment?

I do not follow at all.

…then again, it's already possible to just uninstall flash and not suffer all that much for it.

Adobe is already depreciating the use of Flash on mobile systems (Android phones and tablets). They won't support Flash Player on the latest version of Android (4.1/ICS). Starting in August, you won't even be able to download Flash Player from the Google play market unless your device already has it installed.

Given an increasing push towards the use of HTML 5, how much longer before Flash is dead on the desktop as well?

I have a feeling that Mozilla and Adobe are at war or something for several weeks now. And every new patch makes it even worse.

And it's not only Mozilla, my Samsung Android Phone hates Flash 11 from the frst day. Flash 10 is working fine though.

But what is the alternative solution for watching YouTube on your Phone or in your Browser?

Do you know what's really dumbing down eve? Graphics! If you really want a hardcoregame with a learning curve that even beats eve: Try bay12games.com/dwarves

Google is working on pushing out an HTML5 version of YouTube. No Flash involved there. You can turn it on for whatever videos you can here: http://youtube.com/html5

As Petrus said, I signed up to the HTML5 version of Youtube. My laptop thanks me greatly by giving me extra battery life. If you have problems with watching videos on youtube with flash, I would highly recommend giving the HTML5 beta a go.

flash has the benefit of being cross platform

html5 video sounds really great until you realize that you need a different video and audio format for each of the browsers on the market.

so that 1 SWF file suddenly becomes 3-4 different files you need to maintain so everyone can see the same thing on top of making your site code detect browsers and installed codecs (provided the paranoid user doesn't prevent you from detecting their info)

w3 screwed the pooch not enforcing a format standard and letting the browsers define the codecs

there is a small problem with HTML5 on firefox... their HTML5 video implementation is crap and sucks CPU down big time. I cannot watch HD videos on my (admittedly older Core 2 Duo T6500) laptop in HTML5 mode

Tedium and difficulty are not the same thing, if you don't realize this then STFU about game design.

This, so much this. That and the fact that they *still* haven't actually managed to get an "official" version published, or addressed some of the issues with in-browser graphics at least to the point where it's a little harder to agree with of all people *microsoft's* stance against implementation...

Don't get me wrong, I hate Adobe as much as anyone else who has to sfuffer trying to use their crappy products, but right now there isn't a good alternative if you need a consistent presentation. At least, as long as you don't have to present for the iDrones.

I do hate that red screen...

Flash has been a problem with FF for a while now, which is why I stopped using it (FF).

I might eventually uninstall Flash...
