I posted an idea to F&I forum for Improved POS Construction Arrays that provides a material usage bonus to all jobs run at the Array.

The goal is to improve POS manufacturing operations.

My question for the S&I forums, is what pitfalls should be avoided when trying to improve POS manufacturing? Where should the limitations lie, and what difficulties do you see in the current POS manfuacturing environment?

A pos shouldn't give a bonus to material efficiency, only time efficiency. A material bonus would create an exploit where you could build and refine for mineral creation. Suddenly the economy collapses. You would have to redefine the entire reprocessing line of the game. The barrier to entry is now high and newbros get shafted.

Bad idea, very bad idea.

But enough about the pitfalls. I would want to see coupling of the arrays in a pos so I don't need to move materials between arrays to start jobs.

I'm aware of this loophole.. and had a suggestion on how to avoid it:

Have the POS array give a bonus to the ME level, rather than a direct reduction in the material requirements.... This would prevent the loophole you are suggesting... This would also be primarily a boon to t2 production then, but that's not a bad thing... The difficulty though, is how many levels of ME are enough to make the array worth using, while not overtly destroying the value of t2 BPOs??

Then you would have to limit it to an ME bonus of 1 if that because you've just buffed the +9 max run modifier decryptor which will now be the go-to decryptor for all big-ticket invention jobs.

Yes, alter the "ME Level" would have a serious effect on the value of different decyptors, but that's not necessarily imbalancing, especially if additional limitations existed, like say, these POS arrays can only be anchored in lowsec/nullsec.

Now we've got risk vs reward. This is starting to take shape. There are many complaints about low and nullsec being devoid of manufacturing (some exceptions apply) and this might be an idea to pose, because who needs environmental regulations in low and null.

POS manufacturing is just fine the way it is. You have shorter manufacturing times and no wait time for manufacturing to start, plus having the ability to make items you cannot make in highsec.

A material bonus on manufacturing? Sounds like a system that would allow players to manufacture, reprocess, repeat for endless minerals. Also the last thing the game needs is a way for people to transport minerals between high/null more cheaply.

A POS already has so many advantages and features, and the only reason to NOT be using a POS is because you cannot afford it, defend it, or have the ability to anchor it. The're feature rich all ready and do not need any bonuses. Simply having a POS is a bonus.

For small ticket items, I research my BPO's to perfect ME, so I get zero waste, so what materials bonus would I get?

POS Manufacturing does need some love, but material bonus isn't it.

Larger capacity for ammo arrays (150k m3 isn't that much when you try running a job for 5 or 6 days), I know you can set 1 line running, refil the array and set the next one, but it's messy.

Have a new pos module to act as a store, but it must take power / grid, and this feeds materials to arrays within a certain range of it, but that's quite a lot of work to work out.

They already get a bonus to time, so I'm generally happy that manufacturing at a pos doesn't need any buff, just maybe a little tweaking.

When you've researched your BPO to perfect ME, then you would get no bonus... As has been pointed out, if you ever allow the manufacturing of an item to be better than perfect, there is a potential "create minerals" loophole created, which could potentially be worthwhile to exploit...

I honestly was trying to encourage t2 production at lowsec/nullsec POS. Since t2 production is rarely done with a researched BP, let alone a perfectly researched BP, I thought ME might be a nice boon!!!

POS array tweaking, like storage capacity is something that would be really useful too.... this is a very good idea!!!
