Annual survey

I just finished taking your annual survey and I have a few comments about it, since there wasn't a "Anything else you would like to tell us" box at the end.

1. The survey is excessively long. (I don't plan on ever taking one of yours again.)

2. The survey has several questions that have very long answer sections, with no "I'd like to skip this section"

3. The response time for your survey engine is excessive. The delay in loading the next question was about 20-30% of the time I spent taking the survey.

I may consider taking one of your surveys in the future if you clearly state on the email, you send out, that it will not require an investment of time roughly equivalent to flying to Iceland from the USA.

Thank you

Eve players can complain about anything. Given your attitude, it was probably detrimental to the game for you to have done the survey anyway.

While he is being heavy handed, it was too long and the next question took way to long to load.

My survey took me about 25 minutes to complete. Yes, a large portion of that was simply waiting for the site to present the next question, but the overall estimate was correct.

Is there anything anywhere an EVE player won't complain about? Get a life.

Well I'm going to complain too. I have 3 accounts (and have had 2 of them since 2006) and have never, ever had an invite to fill in any survey.

I spent 30-40 minutes doing it while grinding standings last night, only to get to ~90% and have my browser crash...
Of course, that's Apples fault, I thought the survey itself was fine.

The Sandbox, you're playing it wrong!

this, so much.

got about 42% through and gave up, and that was after about 3 pages of mindlessly picking the middle option for everything.

most of the questions are repeated twice with slight variations eg which do you own vs which do you use question with regards to xbox, pc, ipad, all that ****. it just doubles the length of your survey and makes you feel like you're answering the same thing twice since i'll wager almost every one will have put identical answers for both questions.

They ask you are you going to play Dust, I said "no" then expecting a follow up question as to why not (I presume thats what the survey is for) and nothing. Strange

P.S wont be playing dust till they release it on a decent gaming platform (the PC) Twisted

I'm not complaining, I'm offering my input on their survey. (Albeit slightly sarcastic and snarky.)

If a survey is long, I think it should be because it is allowing you to answer question you can provide relevant information on. There were several questions, that you had to answer to continue on, which I felt were excessively long and didn't offer a "this is not applicable to me" option. Also I think a 25 minute survey is slightly excessive and if they were able to streamline their survey they would get more participants and therefore get better overall feedback from a larger audience. I know, it's crazy to think that any company would want their survey making efforts to provide them the feedback from as close to 100% of their user base as possible, but that's what I think they have in mind when they design it.

The time delay between questions issue is quite relevant based on my previous statement as well. I had some instances where it took over a minute between questions. However, I persevered because I want to help CCP make a better game, which is why I took the time to make this post in the first place. It's my opinion and I chose to share it with CCP in the hopes that it will help them make a better survey, using a better survey engine, next year.

Well, to be fair, "Which devices do you own?" and "Which devices do you use?" are actually two distinct questions. For an example, I own an X-Box and a Wii though neither have been powered up in like 2 years. Perhaps the question is trying to get a handle on how many people maybe own an X-Box but don't use it but they MIGHT if DUST released for X-Box?

I have no idea why exactly they asked the questions, but they are definitely two different questions. You have the right to not take the survey or to exit it if you don't want to continue. Is this really forum-worthy?

It says in the email that it takes 25mins. "You are invited to participate in a survey being conducted by CCP. In this survey you will be asked about your opinions and feelings towards EVE Online and video games in general. It will take approximately 25 minutes to complete."

You missed complaining about "too many big words."

It took me about 20 minutes, but yeah most of it was waiting on pages to load. It timed out 3 times on me as well, I had to refresh and click "Resume Survey"

I just took it as well. My comment:

In many questions you listed Trading, Exploration, and PvP as separate activities. But Trading and Exploration are PvP activities.

How would someone answer the survey if they like trading, but not PvP: Space combat? It would make no sense; they like trading, a PvP activity, therefore they like PvP, but want no part of PvP:Space combat, so their answer for PvP should be... what?

Do you mean for PvP to be interpreted as PvP: Space Combat? If so I suggest you replace all selections currently shown as PvP with PvP: Space combat.

Survey was fine. I've taken much worse ones that really grate on your sanity. I just wish they offered some incentive to complete it.

I don't care if the survey is long, they warned you up front. However, the survey took way longer than 25 minutes. I also found it very unresponsive to mouse clicks. I was wondering it the damn thing was hacking my computer while I taking it......

Yeah loading times between the questions was quite long but I finished the survey in about 20 minutes and didn't feel as if it was too long. Though the option to skip specific sections would've been favorable.
