My EVE

The inventory system has me flummoxed.

In the years that I have played EVE, I have never once taken to these forums to whine about change. I gave the new inventory system a few weeks to grow on me. I sneered at the inventory whines on the forums - "adapt or die"!

But I begin to suspect 'unifed tree' translates from the original Icelandic as something different and unmentionable.

I'm old, I grew up with a party line telephone and my first TV was black and white.

Change things, and I'll happily adapt. Change, though often painful, generally leads to something better.

But this - these disappearing windows, long delays in opening full hangers, things on the screen that don't stay where I put them, having to rearrange everything every time I log in to a new character - this has me talking to the computer in bad ways.

So, soon I will be like the stapler guy on Office Space.

I'm talking to the computer in ways that anyone that has ever worked on an over-engineered German car, or tried to puzzle out where the human dynamos at Microsoft have hidden the buttons in the latest version of Word might be familiar with.

I just wanted to move a virtual item from one box on the screen to another.

It's weak in form but in substance I think it illustrates the frustration.

Change is a good thing
in general, but sometimes...
