What if I had one in reality...

Hey all,
I'm not sure if I'm going to get in trouble for this, hope not but whatever.

Now, recently, my fiancée went on a trip from our home in Australia to a conference in Finland. She's been gone for about a week an I miss her terribly. However, with all the extra free time on my hands I've been playing a lot more EVE. While looking at the ships in my home station I saw a Nemesis class Stealth Bomber. I started thinking to myself, "If I had one of those in reality, I wonder how long it would take me to get to Finland?"

Now, I did a few calculations and looked up the distance between where I am in Australia and where my fiancée is in Finland and just on sub-light engines, in my Nemesis it would take about an hour and a half to get there. This lead me to continue my path of thought; "I probably couldn't use the warp or micro-warp engines in atmo due to the air displacement and the disturbances it would cause, or could I?"

So, I'd like to ask you, EVE people, do you think that if you had one of your ships in reality you would be able to use its warp or micro-warp engines within Earth's atmosphere?

Also, if you had said ship in said life, what would you do with it? (Personally, if I had a Nemesis I'd go bomb some people for funsies Pirate)

You probably wouldn't make it to Finland flying anything made of Trit. :)

I'd go try to return the bomber to the Gallente federation.
Since in eve you need jumpgates to get anywhere far, in order for the bomber to get here it must have used a jumpgate. So id fly the bomber, look in its computer, find the jumpgate, avoid PL gatecamps, and dock at a station, sell the thing for 15mil, and retire in a new universe with shiny new technology!

Meh... just get a Jump Clone in Finland... instant traveling FTW.

It's about 15000km distance.
To go that much in an hour and a half you'd need to go 10000km/h, or about 2777m/s (slightly above Mach 8).
Does your Nemesis really go that fast usually ?

Since the warp drive actually can take you THROUGH planets (or stars even) with no problem, warping there might actually be safer than flying there (at Mach 8 through an atmosphere with a ship NOT designed for atmospheric flight), if only you would have a proper destination bookmark.

^ So it would be doable, with a insta.

I would strip it down and reverse engineer it, and build my own empire from the technology, and using my wealth and influence I would steer the world towards what I think would be a better world. Also invest heavily in R&D so that I can get enough technology to go post-human.

At worst, you would be killed and the bomber destroyed. At best, you and your bomber would be kidnapped and hidden away by your government.

If [country A here] found a magic-tech alien craft and was reverse engineering it, thus potentially giving [country A here] insurmountable economic, technological, and military advantages, how would [country B] (and [countries C...ZZZ]) react?

As would I. The world would be a much better place under the rule of High Imperial Lord Floppie.

I have honestly questioned the trit thing and figure they mean pure trit cannot be used for anything touching air. But as well all know same can be said for iron it rusts when exposed to general atmosphere. But toss in some nickle and chrome and you get the most common kitchen sink material in the world, Stainless Steel(also known to be good for construction of time machines from early 1980s cars) which does not rust. Basically I bet even in EVE most trit is alloyed with other things and is not very reactive.. But outer hulls might be pure.

Convert charon to Cruise ship, make piles of cash off space cruises.

Sadly I did the math.. a freighter would still take 275d to reach Alpha Centauri at warp.

the average EVE ship goes 3au/sec.. still 64d to Alpha Centauri.

So not exactly week long cruises but I bet still some money to be made in deep space cruising.

Problem is, can any of our ships even land, are they even capable of operating in a gravity well without simply falling apart.

EVE is like swimming on a beach in shark infested waters,  There is however a catch...  The EVE Beach you also have to wonder which fellow swimmer will try and eat you before the sharks.

if i could i would have a rifter in real life man that thing looks clean
tbh i would choose many ships in eve to have in real life or even toys of them to set up on my counters in a mock battle lol

rifter hulls
merlin hulls
ferox hulls
hurricane
drake
raven
buzzard
kestrel
the list goes on, theres a bunch of really cool model ships in this game so its hard to choose only a couple lol

i think the top choice though if i had to choose for real life actual ship would go to a tengu or buzzard so i can use it to probe down wormholes and go to random far off galaxies and shoot stuff there or explore further lol
because in carl sagans words, "a still more glorious dawn awaits."
