Player-designed Cloathing!!!

Hi,

  1. Why not create a little program that would allow players to create there own clothing and sell it on the Noble Exchange for Aurum and CCP could get a percentage of the sells. That would free-up some programmers for other more important projects.Players could restrict the sell of those clothing to Alliance or to Corporate members. That would promote player unity for more militaristic organisation since they could design there own uniforms and allow ranking on it.

  2. -We should be allowed to display awarded medal on our clothing.

  3. Also, Aurum should be allowed to be transformed back into plex for the same rate or directly to isk.

Another way to do this is when a player designs clothing (or other vanity items, like accessories, room decorations, furniture, ship skins), they get a BPO to make the item.

But there is an issue: Its known in the industry as "TTP" which stands for Time To.. er... gentleman's sausage. That is the time between when a feature is released that allows players do design stuff and the first appearance of something obscene. In the case of PI it was 5 minutes before someone arranged the planetary interaction nodes in the proper pattern.

What to do about TTP? Have all player created items vetted by CCP. But that takes time from CCP devs! So have the players pay for that time with Aurum.

Player designs item.
Player submits the item design and Aurum to CCP.
If CCP says OK, player can buy BPOs for that item with additional Aurum.

+1 to Player designed items.

While this could work in theory, censorship is the major issue.

What they could do is have an art contest, like they've done in the past for ships, and implement the winner's item into the game.

Not a forum alt.

An art contest would result in an even greater amount of censorship! Only a very very few select designs would be seen, the rest: censored out because they did not win the contest. A vetting process would ( my guess) exclude only a small fraction of the designs.

But for big things, like ships where only a few can be added to the game, contests make sense.

But the content censored out through a contest would be inferior when compared to the content that didn't filter out, so that kind of censoring would probably be considered a good thing. At least I'd see it that way.

This is Eve. It is full of internet retards. How does CCP expect to sell Aurum without clothes befitting of Eve's playerbase?

I don't hate this idea. but what you are talking about is a lot of work to make anything that would really give players original clothing creation. My guess is a year of hard development or more. I would hate drawing devs away from other projects to work on this fuil time.. even though I like the idea. It's just not that important right now. When the stations are fully opened to play might be a better time to talk about this.

NO need to create a new app. Let the gamers use the same app has the Dev already use for the cloathuing. Why recreate the wheel when you already have one.

Just create a guide book for the minimum specs for the cloathing and let the users figure it out.

Oh yes, it's really that simple, why haven't they done this already? Roll (Hint: potential industrial espionage)

Also, programmers don't do clothes, art department does, and afaik they haven't done them in the past year, being busy with V3 project, save for the 1 or 2 people in TA. There is a very small team working on WiS content, called Team Avatar, I don't think it needs to be reduced any further. I understand it's like 5-10 people, possibly less.

Whether they implement this sooner or later, i like this idea.

If they had some way to make a fashion moderator panel that decides whether clothing can be loaded into the game or not, similar to CSM panel i guess?

Either that, or there's something implemented that would be similar to the corp logo creator for clothes. Whereby you can design the cut of the clothing and placement of the designs.

In another life, at another time, in a galaxy far far away I ran a very successful clothing shop outside of Mos Eisey...I still miss it.

My own take on this would be a system where:

Player submits a photoshop psd from various pre-determined angles of the clothing design (for males or females). Allot like Alliance Logos.

Submitted PSD goes to some back end office in Iceland where some lower level CCP clerk could oogle said designs and review them for "appropriateness".

Upon acceptence (with the usual fortnightly patch) CCP could deploy these clothing options to the Nex store.

It could even be expanded, allowing a system whereby players who become fashion designers for New Eden could end up earning a % of the aur the clothes sell for as a royalty for continued investment or profiteering.

Now if only Aur could be traded for isk...

Eve is about Capital ships, WiS, Boobs, PI and Isk!

Pretty sure there is enough loathing in the game without adding more to it.

Just my two cents.

He's right, I already loathe Annasys enough, I don't need awful My Little Pony thongs in Eve.
