73 year murders former school mate over locker room prank 50 years later

AP news bit

I kind of like his style, allowing the prankster to think that he had got away with it for 50 years and then... Lol

Now seriously, it's a tragedy, but then if that prank kind of haunted the murderer for all his life, or surfaced out at an elder age to tilt the murderer out of his sanity, then this crime would be a bizarre case of "unforeseen consequences"...

So, let's see:
a) minimal information about a jockstrap on head prank in high school (with a subtle implication that that is the oversimplified version,)
b) the murderer has mental health issues,
c) the victim's brother said "there was an incident where Norm Johnson did something to Carl."
d) one of the victim's kids "couldn't understand how someone could hold onto a grudge for so long"
e) one of the victim's kids taunted the murderer with "I can't blame you for being jealous of dad,"

I'm going to go with, maybe the victim really was a black hearted SOB as evidenced by item E (i.e. how his kid turned out) and partially supported by items C and D.

Today, I'm all about jumping to interesting conclusions based on scant details.

E (i.e. how his kid turned out)

I love my father more then anyone. Look up to him, respect him. What would you say to someone who took away someone you loved dear.

If anything she was restrained in her words. I would think my father a better man then his killer even if he did pull a childish prank halve a century ago. A lot of people would have cursed and ranted at the monster that took away their family member. Nothing is more important then family.

She was monumentally restrained. There is so much more hatred to losing a loved one then a jock strap.

His son want to put him in a nursing home by any chance?

Loony is a good way to describe this guy.

But holding it this long means that he likely wont see a real jail and instead will go into a home. on state dollars.

EVE is like swimming on a beach in shark infested waters,  There is however a catch...  The EVE Beach you also have to wonder which fellow swimmer will try and eat you before the sharks.

Proving once again everything you do has consequences, even if they don't surface right away. In high school, someone of authority said essentially the same thing on the subject of fighting, along the lines that you personally may get hot headed and fly off the handle on someone, then a few hours later you're over it. Two weeks later, you can't understand why they caught you in the temple by the locker room with a bat.

Likewise, there are generally a few types of ways people deal with anger, some let it off their chest immediately, like the guy in line at checkout berating the cashier because she's not moving fast enough or didn't understand something etc. Then there's people like the cashier, who keep it under wraps day after day until finally one day they show up for work in a trenchcoat and start mowing customers down with an assault rifle.

I guess the only thing to take away from this is you might want to second guess who you chose to rub the wrong way, you can't judge a book by its cover.

PS I'm a cashier. Smile

They should make him live in prison with a jockstrap on his head.

Not buying it.

There is more to this than meets the eye - suspect the rage stems from something deep inside the mind of the murderer and they saw an opportunity to rage at someone and their mind rationalised it.

Wasn't an attack on someone else, it was an attack on himself.

I hope one day he realises this.

Pfft if I could get away with it, there is plenty of low life pathetic assholes that I would gladly go and shoot point blank.

Where I am from they go from like Ned/Chav > Drug/Alcholic > Father at age 14-18 to someone they dont know > Still on drugs despite the kid > unemployed and complains they have no money > kid grows up to be the same > Repeat.

Kill the source of the problem and you kill it completely.

On the other hand, this guy just held a grudge.
