Hello,

I was looking thru my Eve folder and I saw two .patch files ( EVE_Online_369870-376700_win.patch and EVE_Online_369870-376700_win.zip.download - Yeah, 2nd it's not a .patch file, but still ) for 889MB and 997MB.

And I deleted them. Then i ran Eve and it was working. But i've put them back, thinking they were an optional patch and still want to have them.

But a question still remained:
Is it safe to permanently remove all of the .patch files from Eve folder ?

Thank You,

I saw those about the same time as you and I removed them. Eve seemed to be fine for me without them. However, when this patch came a few days later I ran into problems and now I get a crash to desktop everytime I try to login. I am not sure if that is the issue or not and if so then what to do about it.

Deleting the .patch files is perfectly safe - you can set the launcher to do this automatically. The .download file is most likely a failed download (which is also safe to delete)

No idea why you would have started crashing, but it is not related to these files being deleted. This is being investigated along with other driver related issues.

Can I just say, I noticed today I had 1.2gb free space on my 120gb SSD.

I went through a couple of eve folders and deleted some stuff (.patch files and some other stuff under c:\programdata) I now have 28gb free.

Eve was taking up almost 50gb of hard drive space on my machine.

CCP, sort it out! I know you will say "you can set the launcher to delete this and that and blah blah"

But a game that can munch up 50gb of hard drive space with default settings, with half of that being useless crap is just plain broken :)
