Mach. It's faster than majority of cruisers. So what's the beef with BS again?Smile

As I said, I'm trained in Amarr tech. Mach isn't an option.

Not to mention the hull alone runs about 1bn these days.

^ This.

If you want to stay Amarr (RP, aesthetic, or just plain becauseIwanto reasons), then do so. They do have options, but they tend to be a little more skill level intensive before becoming effective.

Zealot, Legion, Omen Navy Issue, and Absolution all are BC or smaller laser ships that do L4's easily, and are a lot of fun.

Sacriledge is a missile boat that can do L4's if you prefer that route.

Curse and Arbitrator can do most L4's but there is notably more risk involved.

If you decide to go with BS, the Abaddon makes one of the best tanks in game for the class, but is brutal on skill level requirements in order to try and balance out its Cap issues. Apoc is very popular, and more forgiving to lower skills.

Everyone has their own style (Zealot is my personal favorite). You need to find yours. Tool around with a few types, and get a feel for what style (fast / missile boat? Tanking laser platform? Speed tanking shooter?) feels like it fits you, then base your training on that ship accordingly. Nowadays training does not take very long at all if you aim at a particular ship.

Just my take on it, but hope it was helpful. ;)

I also want to have a source of decent income (l4 missions, 0.0 ratting, etc), but I don't have the skills for a HAC, or T3 cruiser. All of my skills are geared towards Amarr tech. Can anyone suggest a ship/fit that would suit me? I've heard of Omen Navy Issues soloing L4s/0.0 ratting (and I love the hull).

If what I'm asking is impossible, I'll understand.

Have to pay to play, you said you don't want to fly a BS and then **** on ever alternative.

Perhaps you missed the part where I said: "If what I'm asking is impossible, I'll understand."

You can solo a l4 in a frigate but will be very slow because you will constantly have to approach your targets and will have terrible DPS...

Your comments about being slow are silly; a battleship might be slow but the fact that they can hit DPS figures of 700-1200 @50km means that a battleship is really the fastest thing to make isk in.

Get a BC or HAC and run PLEXes in low sec. More money than L4s and you don't need to be in a BS.

This makes sense. I suppose my ship's speed means nothing if it takes twice as long to finish a mission. I'll just suck it up and stick to PvP for smaller hulls.

Train up HAC / BC's. You can do L4's, 0.0 ratting, Plex, and if you get caught by some enterprising pirate out there solo, depending on what ship you are in, you may a): Get out alive, b): Give them second thoughts depending on your ship, or c): surprise someone and counter their gank altogether.
AC and HAC are great pvp ships as well from what ive learned so far.

BS's are great for L4's. I personally dislike the slow speeds getting around though, so normally stick to my Zealot, and manage to go through the rooms in decent time.
If you want to do both (pvp / pve), in the short term you would probably be better off maxing out your smaller ship skills, as going into BS class will mean training up all your appropriate weapon skills to Large also (beam / pulse and specialization).

Food for thought
