Highslot Electronic Warfare and Electronic Attack Frigates

The newly added (see Variations tab under Target Painter info) Reverb Advanced Target Painter.

With the apparent advent of highslot ewar modules, I believe that these should be role-limited to Electronic Attack Frigates. As EAFs are (if I recall correctly from CCPs last revelation on the subject) the least-used sub-capital hulls, giving EAFs the special ability to utilize these new ewar modules in high slots to fulfill their primary purpose would go a long way toward making these ships useful, and toward enticing pilots to actually fly them.

Moving the EAFs ewar modules from midslots to highslots would also alleviate perhaps the current primary complaint with these ships, that being the inability to equip even a basic (shield) tank when also fitting their ewar modules.

Giving the EAFs this special role bonus (highslot ewar) would be similar to the recent addition of Tier 3 battlecruisers with their special role bonus of equipping Large highslot weapons.

There would have to be some tweaking of the various EAFs, though their basic bonuses are already in place:

  • Sentinel: tracking disruptors
  • Kitsune: ecm target jammers
  • Keres: remote sensor dampeners
  • Hyena: target painting

However, if such new highslot ewar modules are not intended by CCP to be role-limited, EAFs should at the least receive a bonus to fitting them in highslots. This hopefully would allow other ship classes to fit (one) into a utility highslot, but still permit EAFs to field a full complement of them on their ship. EAFs would be less unique (as outlined above) but this would still be an incentive toward more usage of EAFs in battle.

Pretty much like the idea.

Those frigs are really fragile, too fragile. Damps are still in need of revamp but seems it's about to be done (Soon tm)

While EAS needs looked at and reduced effectiveness ewar high slot modules could be interesting to give an alternative to "just fit a neut," I'd rather they focus on making damps not suck first, balance ECM, and make TPs useful for pvp somehow.

Even highslot ewar will make it difficult to justify flying EAF.

EAF are one of the biggest piece of crap in this game that CCP has created(which will take them years to fix now)

There is no real use to flying EAF when you have recon ships.

EAF are inferior ewar ships that will die in a single volley to a cruiser.

With that said i look forward to the highslot target painter, a unique war of buffing TP without making them ridiculous.

This is open the doors a bit more to torpedo ships.
