Best non-Caldari solo DED ships...

Hello everyone,
I was recently amazed by the wonders of DED exploration and i decided to try and go solo!

My main problem are the ship i should use and, therefore, what kind of DED i should run.
I have read that the Ishtar is an excellent exploration ship, but need both Gallente cruiser V and T2 sentries....
I have excellent skills for all amarr/gallente/minmatar ships up to BS (except T2 amarr/gallente cruiser) and i wondered if i should start with an Enyo and some 3/10 DED sites maybe or if I could try something more... interesting Cool

My main limitation is the budget, i would not like to put more than 300/400 millions in a single ship, so T3 and faction BS are off-limits atm...
My dream actually is to solo some 6/10 sites, but i suppose i will have to wait at least to have a Machariel to do something like that...

Many thanks in advance, let's see what you can offer me Big smile

P.S. I will most probably face Sansha rats

Enyo's little brother - Ishkur is great for hisec exploration ( but Enyo will also work ).
As far as lowsec goes - Ishtar or drone Proteus are two excellent ships ( for Serpentis and Guristas space ). They can also work well in Blood/Sansha space, you just need to be careful of neuts/webs ( especially in Blood sites ).
Loki is decent but it doesn't hold a candle to those two ( works great in hisec though ).
Legion is.....problematic as far as lowsec goes.

Some lower end ships ( like Drake/Myrm ) will work to a degree but at the same time are very inefficient and will struggle in higher end sites.
Command Ships are also a good choice ( Sliepnir is great ).

You really don't need battleship for lowsec ( although Mach or Domi are both quite interesting ). Moving battleships through lowsec is very problematic and because of that T3's are much more popular here.

Getting Ishkur for hisec and then Ishtar for lowsec is the safest route you can take. Training those T2 sentries is quite important for both Ishtar and drone Proteus though ( they make huge difference ).

Yeah, i forgot to mention that i would use BS hulls only in "safe" alliance null-sec, with intel and everything Smile

I was not too sure about high-sec exploration because i don't really know how much money i could make from them, what kind of income do they generate (i guess mainly from faction loot)?
I know that faction loot is very random, but can i suppose to gain at least something like 50 millions/hour?
Right now i have to finance my PvP with 0.0 anomalies, that are pretty good for incomes (something like 18 millions/tick with my maelstrom) but they are boring as hell...

P.S. thanks for the quick answer Blink

Cheapest thing I've used for a 4/10 was an arbitrator. You just need to boost away from the blob you get thrown into by gates, and hang around while the drones kill everyone.

Your alliance lives in provi if i can recall, if you want to run a sansha 6/10 you basicly need a arma 3 hs fit with 5 gards 2 and a logi, that should be with in your 400m isk budget.

oh and this combo works for almost all sansha sites

I thought about dual-boxing, but i don't have any alt atm and creating a new one would require me more than 3 months for basic skills Sad

I have been on the test server in the last days, trying to scan down some low-sec systems with a cov-ops...
I've visited 7-8 low-sec systems and i found nothing but radar and magnetometric sytes (and some WH), are DED sites so rare to require so much time to find any?
Scanning sure is funnier than doing anomalies, but not this much Smile

Train Caldari Cruisers up to lvl3 and fly Gila, it's very similar to Ishtar and it's very good for doing DED sites. T2 sentries are not really needed: sure, they are much better, but T1 (or faction) are completely usable if you have good drone support skills.

Also, if you are thinking about stable or at least semi-stable income, you are completely wrong. Exploration is very, very random, you can find your first 1Bil deadspace module in your first plex and then have nothing for a month. Or other way around :) I myself combine plexing with mission running: it can be very hard psychologically to find nothing again and again.

gila and ishtar are excellent and versatile ships, and have more than sufficient dps and tanks for a 6/10 plex. A good fit will cost you 160-200m isk all included. Tech2 sentry drones are absolutely amazing, however with the drone damage upgrades, they aren't a necessity.
