Dont worry, in a few years time you'll look back and go 'Damn i miss this, or damn i miss that' as the game is ever changing yours might be more 'I remember when eve was flying in space and not about tritanium boots' or something P

The only thing you missed out on was the harder-core version of eve, where concord took longer (one stage reppable LOL), titans insta'd everything on the field within range of AOE doomsday smaller than a BC with a good tank, dreads had no real use due to being massively under balanced, hulks were PVP-worthy (videos on youtube), nano-interceptors could do 12km/s+. Funny times Lol

The old jump gate sounds. Like listening to a champagne cork pop, but from inside the bottle.

Just brilliant.

Exodus...

  • Mining in a thorax and hauling in an Iteron 3 just to earn all those millions required for the 7x miner I brutix fit that everyone else had and having a blast doing it with a small corp in lowsec space...
  • Running NPC trades in an itty 4 through empire and actually being able to earn some ISK without running a spreadsheet or plugging my head into an API.
  • PVPing in an Ishkur and pwning ratting Machariels in lowsec.
  • Old jump animation (normal and cap) and the funny axis extension you got when your ship jumped - it showed everyone on the grid exactly who was jumping and when...
  • Playing with no sound, because to do otherwise would mean you're a noob or have too much money for a state-of-the art PC (wait for it... EVE has sound??)
  • My Dommy having 15 drones
  • 0.0 campers having to anchor deployable bubbles to catch anything
  • small gangs of miners not dropping 15 caps incl. 3 moms on you when you engage in 0.4
  • speaking of that - GANGS instead of fleets, heh
  • every ship fitting a multispectral ECM... not!
  • battleships being the multi-month aspiration of new pilots... and actually being on top of the food chain, worth the wait
  • T2 BPO holders having all the money... even though I never had a t2 BPO, it made the game feel rea... although ISK is still highly centralised, no doubt...

but there are so many things I find cool after over a year's break... even though I started in 2005... change is change, nostalgia is good up to a point... adapt to survive and all that jazz... :]

Hell, I miss the adrenaline rush of trying to move a fleet through 0.0 space (I miss Deklien :) ) in the days before Warp to Zero. We had to do much more intel in those days, warping to 15km and rushing for the gate. I also remember the PITA that was trying to copy a "0KM warp in point bookmark list" into your bookmarks.

We did Warp to Zero manually in the old days :).

I miss being fleeted up and having to reboot the client I got right back into the fleet I was in. (or did I dream that one up?)

Idk, can you still do that. Been very long time since I tried....
See, now these are features I've been wanting implemented. I had no idea THEY ACTUALLY REMOVED THEM??

Well I still have my staple guns

I miss the domi of death with too many drones! Damn I got my ass handed to me several times.

But most importantly, I miss snowballs Big smile It was fun on Christmas day undocking with snowball launchers and trying to get someone to fire back when just launching snowballs at them Twisted

Being able to run the low end client on just about any cheap machine or laptop. Let alone 4 clients on a single machine with out the fire department on standby.
Thems my friends where the days.

If Goons were around when God said, "Let there be light" they'd have called the light gay, and plunged the universe back into darkness by squatting their nutsacks over it.

I miss how the avatar pictures looked more futuristic with a deep space appearance. That is, the facial masks, the helmets, the metal pieces stuck into our heads: we looked like the seedier section from Blade Runner. But now, we appear more civilized instead of a bloodlust demigod hellbent on watching the universe burn.

Graphically, I miss how the acceleration gates would spark and engulf your ship with lightening as you were about to warp. Also, how the star gates used to spew energy out the open ends as if it was about to burst. As others have mentioned, the sounds from those gates back then were the best.

Since I started my gaming career in this universe as a miner, a part of me misses those times of seeing numerous grayish tan blobs all rotating in the same direction and needing a rock scanner to pick and choose certain asteroids.

I miss how players were more accepting of other player's career paths, ships, and set-ups. Advice was given more freely with the potential the given knowledge would be accepted and used.

I miss how the game did not have a parental rating at the opening screen.

I remember a few times seeing 20+ frigs attacking a BS.

Oh the horrors and agony of the BS. That poor ship went through a wood chipper.
Was good times for sure.

I don't miss nano-domi's that went faster than interceptors.

This. Having 10000s of bookmarks for every system organised by region just so you could travel around quicker.

Also made easy pickings for sniper teams on gates.
