I wanted to ask the well weathered pros if you guys have some good fits for a stealth bomber for someone who has just skilled up to fly one. I really want a Gallente nemesis but I was told that despite there epic appearance thats all they have. Is this true or are they still viable ships to fly and if so is there a prefered build?

Fits vary across different parts of space and according to what tactics you wish to employ. I'll give you the high/low-sec fit because that's what I have the most experience with.

[Rigs]
Small Bay Loading Accelerator I
Small Warhead Calefaction Catalyst I

Notes:
- CPU is VERY tight on this fit which necessitates the use of Meta mods (this is one of the big reasons why a fair number of people don't like the Nemesis)
- The shield extender is there "just in case" someone takes a shot at you. Generally speaking, you should be warping off as soon as someone even starts looking in your direction. That said, you can remove it for another Ewar mod like a Sensor Dampener.
- Stay away from small, fast ships. Your torpedos won't hurt them and you can't really outrun many things (this is the other reason the Nemesis is not favored by many, it's one of the slowest and least agile of the Stealth Bombers).
- The Calefaction rig (which increases "raw" missile damage) can be replaced with a Flare rig, which will help you deal more "on paper" damage against smaller ships like cruisers.

Needs very good fitting skills and a CPU implant (LE-601 or EE-601). Choose your targets wisely and happy hunting.

What would you want to do with it?

Nemisis isn't on the top steath bombers list.

Hound and Manticore are more used, though if you have an idea what you want to do with it, I might be able to help you out a little.

Dear OP,

I know as a new player it sucks to train a tech II frigate of the race of ships you fly only to find out it is the worst of the bunch.Sad But you see, CCP decided to work on appearance and push back rebalancing of performance. Apparently it is too hard for them to realize that the agility stats on this ship (and the purifier to a lesser extent) are abysmal in comparison to the other two. Also, it is too hard to give it some slight fitting boost.

So my suggestion is to stow in in a ship hangar at your favorite station, wash and polish it and spin it in admiration. It may become worth using in 2014. Until then, start cross training either Caldari frig 5 or Minmatar frig 5. This will give you access to a better bomber. Addtionally, it is a good rule of thumb for every character to have two races of ships it can fly.

The great thing about Stealth Bombers is that once you can fly one, you're never more than 512,000 SP away from flying any of the others.

With their extremely high per-level bonuses, the major selection factor in a bomber is damage type. If you want to do Thermal damage, the Nemesis far outstrips any of the others. Likewise, if EM damage is your goal, the Purifier is the only viable choice (EM is particularly popular since ships fitted for Guristas ratting usually have minimal or zero resists.) And so on. If you like flying Stealth bombers then you should absolutely train for all 4. It's also worth training Covops to 5 to get that last juicy +15% damage bonus.

NB: Many shield fleets will have Thermal as their lowest resist; your Nemesis will deliver the best damage with Scorch bombs compared to the unbonused damage from the other types, although the difference is less stark than torpedo damage.

Another popular use for Stealth Bombers is ninja ratting/sec status repair, at which I can confirm they are very effective indeed. A Nemesis will be a very effective ratter vs Serpentis rats.

The so called "thermal hole" is more like a slight depression, visible only on EFT, than an actual hole that can be taken advantage of.Roll

SBs are horrible for fitting if you fit bomb launcher, as was intended. At that point, you'll be forced to fit low slot fitting mods. There's no way around it.

Between damage type and slot layout/fitting, Hound/Purifier are the top choices for those flying SB as they were intended.

There were large numbers of Nemesis and Manticores flown by Caldari carebears farming FW missions, before they jumped onto Minmatar bandwagon after FW changes. It's not because they're good, but rather that their dmg type happens to match the easy to farm Gallante rats (weakest thermal, secondary kinetic, the reverse of Serpentis).
