Mining barge changes - bonuses affected?

With the new mining barge changes, how will this affect the bonuses the ships have ?

Mack has bonus to ice mining, but in the devblog they are listing the Retriever/Mackinaw as having the second best mining output and largest ore cargo bays.

So does that mean Mackinaw is getting bonus to regular mining yield?

Or does retriever get changed to be a T1 ice miner?

Or will ice mining bonus be merged into the regular ore/mining bonus?

I'm very interested in having a large cargobay for a regular miner, and Mackinaw sounds great unless it remains as an ice miner.

Anyone know what will happen to the bonuses?

As far as I see it, if the bonuses remain the same... then what is the point of this change? Hulk will still be superior mining barge for anything non-ice related.

Mining barge changes? Can I get a link?

It's in the discussion thread for the blog.

Just wondering how the bonuses are affected.

Cause I don't see the logic of choosing an exhumer with more cargo than the Hulk, e.g. the Mackinaw, if the Mack still has ice mining bonus.

These proposed changes confuse me...

Nothing has been revealed yet. It's way too soon to see what will happen.

This ^^.

The dev blog says the features/changes are scheduled for the winter release. I wouldn't expect a lot of details this summer.

edit: Well, except for the Australian players. They shouldn't expect to see a lot of details until late winter or early spring.

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

Maybe I'm jumping the gun then, but only just came back to playing a bit more actively again and got a bit excited (and confused) about that dev blog.

Will just have to see how it develops then.

I was just surprised they didn't outright ignore the miners and focused on everything else. Quite happy their doing this though frees up the mining frig to be a "real" ship now when they balance them and hopefully the cruisers too.

To be a bit more precise about the changes:
All Exhumers/Barges will only need a Skill of 1 but are specialised in different ways. The Procurer/Skiff is for tank (BS like HP), the Retriever/Mack for Cargo room (Ore Hold similar to a jetcan) the Covetor/Hulk has the best yield, but needs support as it has neither HP nor Ore hold to make everything on its own.
So basically:
Mining in OP: Covetor/Hulk
MIning with a single Account: Retriever/Mack
Mining in High Sec during Hulkageddon: Procurer/Skiff

This will change next Hulkageddon to a social experiment in seeing how fast (if at all) miners adapt.

unless the mining yield is within ~5% or so of the hulk, it's more efficient to haul it with an industrial.

the mining yield has to be absurdly close to the hulk to make the mackinaw any thing but useless.

For people like me, who mine for recreational purposes, the Mack will be the boat of choice... and lazy people of course... and people who dont want to skill for a Industrial Ship that can carry a whole can... And people in lowsec that cannot afford to always lose their can as soon as someone jumps into their system... and people who mine in very large systems where the warp takes ages...
