Change to warping, then pointed, mechanics

For as long as I can remember, the way to catch poor souls in ships is to use an offensive warp disruption module. In the last few years, a new feature was added to the warp scrambling module that also disabled the opponents microwarp drive module as well as disabling their warp drive capabilities.

But a interesting feature, or annoying bug, depending on which side of the gun/missile your on, is the fact that when you are attempting to warp out, and you are pointed, you IMMEDIATLY STOP MOVING (dependent of course on how fast you were going to begin with of course).

For instance, I was flying my fun little mwd slicer today, burning around, when along came a cynabal! He was about 80k away from me, so i turned on my microwarpdrive module and aligned out to a celestial, with full speed pumping into my engines. He did the same, wanting my wreck to bejewel his mantle. I started to play a bit of cat and mouse, and i finally realized it was time to head out, so i overloaded my microwarpdrive module and was not currently pointed. Now i realize my mistake was not waiting to be fully aligned before hitting warp. He overloaded his point, and sucessfully pointed me.

This is where the "feature" kicked it. Due to me being in the process of warping, and then pointed, I STOPPED DEAD. Within 2 seconds i went from 4200 m/s to 0, and his guns ripped me apart.

In terms of roleplaying, why does this occur? I cant think of why. When you are scrambled, and your mwd turns off, you still coast for a good portion of time (all these time terms are in terms of frigate pvp, 10 seconds being a very long time).

In terms of coding, it would seem very easy to remember how fast you were going, and when your pointed, just keep up that number, or impose something similar to when your scrambled.

from my point of view, graphically, i was fully aligned, but the calculations did not believe so. I know many people have lost ships because of this, their speed being their main survival tool.

Please support this change, or atleast iterate on why this "feature" is the way it is.

EDIT----
if anyone would like a demonstration, cause my description of the problem does not compute, i will make some sort of youtuber demonstration.

Tackle should only cancel warp, not rapidly declerate you (this also applies to people using suicide scouts to point freighters in high sec to then log in and tackle them with their mains currently at war with said freighter. The suicide scouts point the freighter, which rapidly decelerates the freighter. someone in a channel pointed this out to me, had no idea personally.)

this sounds certainly like some form of bug related to warp mechanics and speed mod mechanics.

Okay here is my take on it. and maybe some testing needs to be done but I know warp needs 80% ship speed to kick into the warp tunnel as well of course as alignment. and I know mods shut off when you warp.

Could this then be some odd bug where the game wants the ship at say 1500ms due to the MWD, but the scram suddenly cancels both the warp and gets confused and cancels the MWD effect. my basic question is does the MWD still have to be in effect(the little line going around the module icon) for this event to take place?

just sounds like some funky interaction between warp, MWD/AB effects on warp entry and the rules of scrams/jams vs the MWD and warp itself. Interesting test would be, WCS on a ship(just for testing not actual combat fit) and see if it still grinds a ship to a halt and has to get back up to speed and warp. I state using WCS in one of the tests as to remove the killing of warping.

EVE is like swimming on a beach in shark infested waters,  There is however a catch...  The EVE Beach you also have to wonder which fellow swimmer will try and eat you before the sharks.

Correct, but I want to make sure that people understand that this applies to any propulsion module, mwd or ab. This also applies to any warp disruption module, not just scramble.

This bug occurs when you are on the "in warp" screen, but before you actually enter warp, then pointed, you then dead stop. Also, bumpp. If anyone has ideas or concerns or ways to implement, or to get ccps attention, feel free to post!

I think it's a type of bug known as an oversight, in which the game client cannot enter warp and so it stops and waits for instruction. The problem is that it was already given previous instruction, to align.

Should make a ship align automatically if it fails to warp.
