Are factional ships more balanced now?

I remember when i used to play eve, everyone at the fric class flew rifters or lost quickly to a rifter. Are the factional ships more balanced now or is it still rifter or suffer?

Also is there a specific frig used to counter rifters in 1v1?

While not all frigs have been balanced yet the current top tier frigate for all races have and they have all become VERY good. So good that some people even claim that the Rifter is bad in comparison.

The frigates has been undergoing some rebalancing lately. In particular the high tier ships, in order to bring them more in line with their intended level.

The rebalancing of ships, expecially the frigates, will continue over the next expansions.

However, your question regarding how to counter a Rifter in a 1 vs 1 is rather difficult to answer, as it very much comes down to the fittings, and the situation you are fighting in.

It is possible to kill a Rifter with a frigate of the other factions, but it's probably not going to be that easy, they are very good frigates Smile

And don't forget to take into account pilot skill. NOT skill points, but actual skills (manually pilot, knowing fits, knowing how mechanics work etc. etc.)

In a straight-up slugfest, the Rifter is beaten by Punisher, Incursus, and Merlin, and is about on par with the Tormentor. However, that assumes the pilots only hit orbit 500 and F1 to fire their guns and leave the rest to fate.

Anything that requires more skill than that, and the winner is up in the air.
