PVPer, PVEer, Miner, All 3 I'm a walking contradiction. Why?

Lets check the forum numbers on this. I'll start.

PVEer (but when I grow up I want to PVP). I'm learning the ropes with PVE, once I understand that more I will move into PVP. I tried mining once, woke up 2 days later and realized I would only use that drug if I was having trouble sleeping.

What the hell is the point of this thread?

CCP mostly sucks at their job, but Veritas is a pretty cool dude.

Started off as an industrialist. Two wardecs by hardened PvPers showed me that to survive, I had to adapt. Now I fly Blackbirds when the call comes.

I've done small gang pvp, solo, fleet. I've suicide ganked. I've hauled for money. I've been ganked. I've mined. I've traded. I've done empire, losec, npc null and sov null. I did a wee bit of WH. I've scammed and spai'd. I've helped noobs, I've donated ISK and supplies to all sorts of people. I've been a good guy and a bad guy. I've been a follower and a leader. There's no contradiction. EVE is just a deep game. People who get stuck in the "them and us" mindset are locking themselves out of 80% of the game.

I do PvPE and I tried mining once. I only really want to get into it to prove a point, I don't really want to shoot rocks for fun.

You make a valid point, good Sir or Madam.

PvE missioning and exploring mostly.

My alt is half miner.

PvP I'm crap at, but certainly not averse to. (I'll get there eventually Lol )

Started life as a miner

Moved to low sec to mine, learned to fight

Ran missions

Level 4's are boring after the grind

Formed a corp and then an alliance

Learned to lead

Learned that I didn't want the burden of command

Moved to Null

Joined a power bloc

Battle of Y2

Invasion of the North

Round the clock CTA's

Alarm clock ops.

Left the power block

Spent a year mining and doing almost nothing in Empire

Moved back to null

Today I relax and mine on occasion.

Yes, this is an alt

In that time - Divorced, Re-Married and opened a new law office.

You aren't learning how to PVP by doing PVE. The only thing the two have in common is hitting an F key to engage weapons. What you ARE doing is building a nestegg for the inevitable learning experiences that will come in the future.

Did quite a bit of stuff - PVE (high, low, nullsec, wh; beltratting, missions, exploration), PvP (All scales, Piracy, FW, sov warfare, although I only enjoyed small scale...), mining (minerals, gas and moons) and some industry (although only very little - only building stuff for myself since the price explosion - before that I didn't produca a single shot of ammo in 7 years).

Made most of the few measly isk I own in trade (mostly contract trading, but CCP killed it more and more, so shifted my activity to the regular markets lately).

All in all, about 2.5% of all my SP accross my characters are in non-combat related skills.

You will learn essentially nothing applicable to PvP in PvE.

You have to be on some sort of downer drug to be able to mine as a consistent profession. Or botting.

Lots of PvE (mostly exploration these days), a little PvP (a few fights and some ganking), now I mostly just die hilariously in gatecamps. I might get in some l33t stealth bomber WH PvP during the next week or so but it really depends on my child taking my spare time. I mined for a while early on but it's as boring as the mission grind so I really only do it when I want the satisfaction of building ratting ammo myself.

A professional astro-bastard was not available so they sent me.

I mined a little yesterday - played Sins of a Solar Empire on another screen and watched TV at the same time whilst getting drunk on wine after having worked a 24 hour shift and it was bearable - so yes - you're probably right.
