I'm just browsing around super carriers, and was wondering what the communities thoughts on the Hel super carrier was. Suitable roles, fitting issues etc.

Thanks.

It's ****, don't fly one.
If you want a shield super, go for a wyvern, but that's **** too, because of the lack of other good shield supers.

I haven't been in very many Super fights, but I know enough to call the Hel primary :D So will most other FC's.

The goal though, is to drop it when you have a huge support fleet, (Most Super fleets will have Nyx's, Aeon's, and armor support) If you have the back up, might not be so much an issue.

I love the design, but for the investment, it would fall to 4th on my list of Supers.

Let me see if I can guess your list.

I have owned (and lost) a Wyvern. I sit in it with near perfect skilling.
The next carrier skill I will do to V is Amarr, BUT, that is more about the Archon tbh.
I have always wanted a Nyx, and if I get another super, Nyx it will be.
I love the design, and I'm a DPS guy by nature.

So there might be a difference in what I would coach/recommend, and what I would actually do.

My personal list is probably:
Nyx
Wyvern
Aeon
Hel

Your list is probably accurate from a 'recommended' perspective.

And to be clear, I am not bashing on your possible Hel. All of them are effing amazing assets. Losing them or even uncloaking them is when you start thinking about the strengths and weakness's. (and the isk involved)

Nicknamed: " The Capital Shield extender"(its gives all the other supers a decent buffer as meatshield) or as "The flying coffin" a Hel pilot gotto be a indeed brave pilot to show up to a planned supercap brawl.
Having all its bonused focused around keeping other people alive while beeing the obvious primary itself, it suffers from having some clear design flaws:P'

should make this its ship discription

On top of that much like the Wyvern it suffers from all the drawbacks shield tanking supers have, they gotto sacrifice tank for tackle, they gotto sacrifice tank for cap recharge(power diag is horrible to cap yourself up in time)
The best power diagnostic beeing chelm is like 17% cap recharge while a basic t2 relay is 24 % recharge. meta 14 relays are like 32.5% recharge.

This means that a max tanked hel/wyvern without cap transfer will spend 10min to cap itself without getting neuted or anything , before it can jump out.( a nyx/aeon does the same in prob 3-4 min without using cap relays but only rechargers) Which is unless your running sanctums not good enough(most supercap warfare is about hit and run with big ships :P) and most hel pilots that I knew , that had some experince with it would swap all its power diag for officer relays. so it could keep it mid as tank(so it got decent resist)) while loosing a lot shield hps atleast having semi fast cap recharge. this mean that while a lot of EFT warriors can get some half decent EHP out of it(close to nyx level) the day to day user will quickly find out that he gonna have 30% less ehp than what the EFT tells him.(since he cant rly use the caldari navy power diag).

and thats before the fact that 80% of all supercap/cap fleets in eve is based around armor , with armor reps.
