Agent Lvl and standings. Again :/

This has probably been asked about 122.355.129 times but I'm having issues working out what I need to access L4 R&D agents.

I have standings of 1.8 (with Connections III, less than 1.0 standings unmodified) with Lai Dai just now, for L3 agents I need 3.0 and for L4 I need 5.0 (according to the agent finders on da webby ;))

The odd thing is I can already use L3 agents with Lai Dai, even though my standing is too low (apparently).

I have a Caldari State standing of 6.2, not sure how this factors into the calculations.

If anyone could shed light on this that would be great :)

That means that you should have access to all level 1-4 agents in all Caldari corporations.

To access level 4 agent, you need 5.0 standing with that agent, or with the agents corporation, or with the agents faction.

Any time I talk to a Lai Dai L4 agent they tell me to get lost Ugh

According to my faction standing I should have access to L4 agents for Lai Dai, but I don't.
According to my corporation standing with LAi Dai I shouldn't be able to access L3 agents, but I can QuestionAttentionQuestion

I'm confused Ugh

edit: I'm referring to R&D agents, if that makes any difference?

R&D agents are special, so maybe someone else has better info, I havn't used them myself.

http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Research_agent has some information but evelopedia isn't allways accurate. It seems to say that faction standing is not enough and you need corp standing, and also you need high enough level in corresponding research skill.

Do you have level 4 in the corresponding research skill?

No I don't have the relevent skills yet, however L1-3 R&D agents still show on the agent finder even when I can't use them. L4's on the other hand are totally greyed out.

It's gonna take me a while to get the R&D skills needed so I was gonna grind the L4 standings while I wait. However I'm not too sure what the standing requirement is Ugh

Confirmed, Faction standings don't work with R&D agents but do work with all the other agents.

So you can acces the other Lai Dai agents due to your Caldari standing of 6.2. But as these don't count for R&D you lack the standings for their R&D agents.

It's to prevent people to grind Faction standings using Caldari Navy and then use Lai Dai for R&D.

Only option in the end, grind more missions for Lai Dai to get their corp standings up to 3.0 for level 3 R&D agents (or 5.0 for level 4 R&D)

I see, ok I got it now Big smile

Looks like I'll be grinding a while.........no L4 security agents I can see for Lai Dai Straight, so it's either courior missions or L3's bah!

Also, Agent Finder might be broken if it shows level 3 R&D agents available when they really aren't. I know it used to show storyline agents as available even through you can't use them without reference.

But before you grind too much, make sure to check how much you can actually profit from R&D. Profit used to be small (see http://hussars-online.ru/eve/datacore.php ). I don't know if that calculator has been updated for Inferno which made some changes to R&D.

Yeah I haven't deciided if I'll sell the datacores direct to market or get my toes wet with some BPC/BPO research. I'm currently quite tempted to see about a long term goal of setting up a highsec POS for research purposes. Especially since I already manufacture a lot of the raw materials needed to fuel a station (through multiple planets and suchlike).

As much as I like shooting things in the face I want a way of making isk that doesn't involve explosions for a change Lol

Just blitz L3 missions for the standings you need. There are a lot of level 3 missions that are 'kill one thing and leave' type ops. Running level 4 missions does give you more standing per mission, but when you average it out of time it is slower. I use an arty Loki to run up rep with NPC corps for reprocessing all the time.
