V3 Ship Station Hanger enviroments?

How about V3-ing the EXTERIOR instead?

Having NPC-corp specific station skins would be a great way to make space a bit less boring.

On topic: Hangers defo need a bit of a facelift tbh, all the other improvements have made them stand out a bit. Knowing CCP they've likely already got a fair idea of what to do about it. Cool

agreed. given that there are only four hangars it shouldn't be a huge task to improve the textures.

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

I wouldnt mine having several different ones per race.

Like if you dock in a factory type station you'd get a more factory like hangar.

Plus, more station interior types per race (station interiors should be as different as station exteriors, and there are several different station exteriors per race). We need some consistency here just like we have with the wonderful new nebulae.

And bring back the old "pleasure hub" interior, and invent some new whacky ones.

Oh, and before I forget - MAKE THE GODDAMN SHIP/INTERIOR THE SAME PROPORTION FOR BOTH HANGAR VIEW AND CQ VIEW.

Oh and whiel I'm at it, stop all this "generic s-f" **** and bring back some whimsy, evocativeness and mystery to the graphics. I fell in love with EVE partly because of the whimsy. The boring-ification of EVE is pissing me off.

"Goofy" is good, "whacky" is good.

"Generic s-f" is crap.

+1. We spend a lot of time inside of ship hangers. They should be pretty. Variety would be cool too. Like, Jita could be ******* massive and have ships flying everywhere and whatnot.

Please do it right the first time:

- add different hangars for different corporations, they change depending on the type of station/outpost. (give me back that spacey gallente hangar that looked like a city! I MISS IT!)
- change the exterior... all the stations look the same, make them dependant on corporation as well.
- make the hangars a bit more... social? Show other ships entering/leaving and staying in dock or something. Doesn't have to be a lot in case there's hundreds, of not thousands of players on the station.
- Come on, get CQ done. Make a public space that also has windows to look outside. Would be EPIC to see those ships and celestial stuff close together. :)
Also as OP says: link CQ and hangar together, you should be able to be in hangar view and see where your CQ is, visually.


This would be a very great improvement to EVE... it's not Flying in Space, but it would make EVE feel larger and more connected, for sure.


EDIT: something I just thought of as well:
- animation when docking! I remember with the Causality trailer, you could see the nighthawk/ferox moving into it's docking spot before it robbed all the crap

Also another suggestion. You know the little NPC ships that fly around in station? Yeah those should be based on the number of pilots docked in the station. It doesn't have to be showing real players. It can just be npc ships flying around.

If the people docked in station is 3, you won't see any ship but your own. Maybe a ship once every 12 minutes or so.

But if there are 200 people docked you see a flurry of activity. It serves a practical purpose as well. Lets you judge how many people are docked without counting the list. And it would look badass if they used other real eve online ships instead of those stupid little old fake shuttle ship things. Are they cars? I want to see other eve ships docking, landing, taking off. Battleships, dreads moving slowly across in distance. I know you can do this CCP, you allready have.

New hangars would be great.

Even better would be a total revamp if possible, something to make stations feel alive, like you've actually docked up inside a massive industrial space city. Maybe vehicles flying about like in amarr stations, adverts and buildings like in the old pleasure hubs, that kind of thing. New exteriors would be nice too. But now I'm just listing massive amounts of work.

And stargates that reflect the dominant corp in the cluster ( or down to system level ).

I remember a blue post on this saying they allready finshed docking and undocking animations. but that they threw it away since they didn't think people would want to wait to undock untill an animation is done.

Which is fine, but why not having a Docking animation? The neo come could be 100% functional while you watch your ship come i and settle down. Get it done ccp! I believe in you!

I whole heartedly agree with the OP and many of the posts in this thread.

We have been given many station exteriors, we should get a corresponding interior to match the size/shape and aesthetic of the stations exterior. If ships get custom corp variation paints with the new V3, why not apply those NPC paint jobs to stations as well according to the corporation. Wouldn't mind if they added new Faction Warfare stations and Pirate Station models.

Also one up to bringing back the good old pleasure hub station interior. Oh do I miss it from playing my first trial account on this game. Also adding and including the active ships types in a visual docking/undocking activity like they did for their videos of each hanger. It could also just include the NPC merchant trade ships and customs ships and more intra-station vehicles like little hover cars/shuttles would be welcomed. Anything to make stations more livelier and busy, includes some semi autonomous announcements in the background chatter of sounds in stations.

With the introduction of the basic WIS Captians Quarters, the balconies should be visible lining the edges of the station enviroment for multiple levels of immersion.

Also +1 bump for topic. Cool

Shouldn't they V3 though outside of the stations before they do the insides?
I get blinded every time I undock from Amarr EFA because the V2 stations is too bright and shiny.

And yeah, if I had to choose who gets V3´ed first, Capitals or Stations, my vote is 100% for stations.

Heck CCP, do the stations even before you muck about with Starbases.
The stations are the prime living space of your customers. Having them look and behave as cool as the previous posters advised would be a very good idea even from the marketing point of view.

And yes, the quirky and weird things are what makes people notice the game. Not the "gritty look" pandemic, that has turned most SciFi games into boring-land.

I think that even something as simple as little ships going back and forth from your active ship would be an improvement. I mean seriously how does all your cargo get in and out, along with the ships crew (they need some r&r after the s*** we put them through) and the station crew who do repairs.
Could really help make the place feel alive.

Also while we are talking about it (and to save me making a new topic) would like that slay game that is being used as a dust 514promotion on the playstation home, in my CQ, it can help waste some time when camped or waiting for people to get a move on.
