V3 Ship Station Hanger enviroments?

TL;DR?
When will the station hangers get V3'd, and should they get a total Redesign? and what happen to god **** Quafe station hanger.

Constructive rant incoming.


Hey, so I was looking at the new ships on SiSi, and Suddenly it struck me. Something has been kinda... forgotten. The station hanger itself. I mean, look at it!

Do you see how the ships in eve online have received a major boost in graphics? Well it feels like they should maybe... V3 the station hangers?

But seriously, the station hangers are old and outdated, and the new V3 project has now made it more obvious.
Also the Captains quarters dock should be visible from the ship hanger view since they should be in sight of each other, doesn't have to happen, but it would be a nice touch. They could have a nice transition animation between ship view and CQ.

Oh and CCP is capable of a good ship hanger. You might be too young to know, but there was a 5th station interior. It has been promised to be upgraded and added back into eve SoonTM. So for you not aware, here is a video in the old quafe station.

Oh and whiel I'm at it, stop all this "generic s-f" **** and bring back some whimsy, evocativeness and mystery to the graphics. I fell in love with EVE partly because of the whimsy. The boring-ification of EVE is pissing me off.

I agree.

Especially with the hope that they remove that awfull fog at higher level shaders.
That fog removes detail. I prefer lower shader settings in station because then i
can actually see the surroundings.

Maybe I should run for CSM as a purely Graphics representative Cool just starting to work at big fish games. Plans to end up up on the eve art team even if it means I have to delete this character to get the job. I just need 3-4 more years of game industry experience before i can even hope to apply to CCP.

I nostalgia'd

I think you raise a good point. Sitting in stations is has long been a valid playstyle, and with CCP making great strides in expanding this area of the game with the addition of the spin counter and CQ, I think that a graphical overhaul of station interiors would help enrich the game for those who choose this style of play.

And for those CQ players, they will get amazing space stations to gaze at.

This would be a good chance to flex that Current Eve online art team. I think the new new stuff, like the new bombers or raven, is really nice direction for the art style in eve. I want to see what CCP could bring to the table with their current concept artists for hangers from scratch. but still nostalgic, make it MORE ammar, more caldari. Add like production lines and military lines. Ammo loading into wall. Fill minmtar with pits and steam, and chains, hooks, steel mill looking place with reactors giving off that green fire gas stufff you see on the outside. Lots of ships moving through the stations. include dark couners of the minmatar culture in old light fliclkering, space docks. allente can have lots of culture and shops, big Advertisements.

The best is there was this big ad in the quafe station that read "PLAY EVE PLAY EVE" Lol that sums up the gallente culture pretty well. And ammar should be ... actully that ones allready pretty good. you can see walk ways and little high ways. It could stilll look more awesome but same format.

maybe I shoould putmy skill where my mouth is and paint up some stuff for fun

Well, I might be cynical but it's clearly easier to please the playerbase with a shiny new art asset than it is to fix a broken game mechanic... So I doubt that CCP are going to stop revamping ingame assets.

hey man, us artist need jobs too. Not just programers. Man we got families to feed, rent to pay. We can't fix broken game mechanics, i swear, you don't want us in your code. :P

A big +1 from me.

Can appreciate CCP's original vision was to remove the hangar environment completely, but it didnt work, so now they need to follow through with the decision to keep it and make it fit in with the rest of the 'world'.

Would love to see it updated and truly hope CCP do in the near future, be a great project for the artists and designers im sure.

Agreed. They definitely need a redesign and shader update. Removal of the fog would be nice as well.

The Art team has implied in previous threads that station redesigning is somthign they are looking forward to do. I wouldn't mind seeing a 5th station type really, but with the current factional warfare aim, i'd also not mind seeing new station interior for factional warfare stations. :)

We been tryin to redecorate things in the house fer ages. Grandma wanted to change things around on the account that we went to Hawaii and she wanted to chance everything to tiki statues and paintings of beaches with bright colors. But then the very next year we watch this movie where some ninja people can run on trees and poles and then she wanted to decorate everything Asian. This would of been ok except fer the fact that a lot of that stuff is expensive and she has problems lettin go of some things so now we have a unique mixture of Hawaiian and Asian things throughout the house. Ya know my Grandson Jim was a big helper when we were moving things through the house. He's a good kid that Tim.

while i would like to see a new v3 interior would that not kill my vid card? i mean a ship is a small thing to render in comparison to a station...

one would have to think about the devs that would be needed to work on this... and atm i think they are busy with new pos graphs and new ships...

tbh you would have to convince some dev to work on this on his own time and then present a WIP to see if they could get a team working on it...

EVE Never Fades - best EVE Online trailer around. It has a sci-fi atmosphere that other trailers cannot create.

Also, I think V3 should be applied first to Minmatar ships, then station exteriors. Interiors are pretty damn cool.

They need to apply the spiffy texturing thingy to the hanger that they're putting on the ships and have in the CQ, that gives a 3d appearance to the places that should look like there's depth.


That video had an impressive amount of unrealized stuff in it. Kind of made me sad.
