Hi!

I haven't played eve in about 3 to 4 years so... things are super different and Im utterly confused.
I used to run L4 missions in my hurricane pvp fitted. Since returning I've lost a rifter in a Level III and
I've been struggling to complete level 3's in my cane. I remember level 3 missions being cake and level 4
missons being about as hard as level 3's are now.

Stuff I've had rudely awaken me...

1 MWD's get scramed now... ho ma god thats what lost me my rifter.
2 My T1 fitted hurricane is struggling to kill anything in L3 missions (I USED TO SOLO L4)
3 Isk inflation has taken my 58 million hard earned isk and made it so that I can only afford 1 more hurricane before Im broke.

So basically I see folks are suggesting T2 cannons and fittings now to run level 3's in a HURRICANE?

I have an active armor tank fitted T1 kinetic, thermal and explosive hardners, I've got a full rack of T1 440mm
M auto cannon and T1 fitted Medium active armor tank, and 2 T1 missle launchers and three T1 drones. I've been using
M Nuke ammo or M EMP depending.

I have been able to scrape out a few level III's but it's been really dicey... I've been trying to use transversal to tank the cruisers while trying to kite the frigs but, the last mission I had was against the Gallient Navy and once those web ships got on me, I was lucky to get out alive let alone get one of them down. In the end had to abadone the mission and wound up with 4 lost drones and a standing hit.

I thought maybe I should fit out a rifter with T2 150's again and try taking out the frigns first... but the fact that those webs shut down my MWD AB now has got me too scared to try that as given inflation I went from having a nice 2 or three hurricane buffer to being 4 rifters short of broke.

also Im a Minmatar in the Caldary navy... seemed like a good idea at the time... at least I got easy access to Jita...

helpz...

also is it even possible to play anymore without buying isk/GTC... doesn't seem like it...

My current plan is to train to T2 M autocannons right away ... but it seems like everyone uses arty and drones now... did they buff arty?

Here is an old cookie cutter that works quite well. T1 and mission specific hardeners as needed.

Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II

Go arti until you get the hang.

Wow you need all that T2 gear now to run Level III's....
woe...

maybe I should back off and do some Level II's in my rifter till I get my skills up.

They nerfed missions hard since I last played... wow.

p.s. sorry for mistakes on my fitting, Im "new again" and working from a spotty memory of last night.

so the basic idea is kite everything with arty and use the drones to kill the frigs?

no way to use autocannons?

use 720mm artiess, stay outside of 20km, use a passive shield tank and3 gyros and 3 tracking enhancers in the lows (or 2 TEs and 1 a power diagnostics if you have trouble with the fit). do not go into lvl4s until you have someting with 500/500 dps/tank

I should buy an Ishtar.

You don't NEED T2 for L3s. I think your main issue is the mwd and the ACs. Use artis and kite. Let light drones handle frigs that get close.

So I guess the web was killing my Hurpederpicane's transversal as it's also MWD driven and then the damage was coming from the cruisers at 20km... so if I get a normal AB, I'll bring my transversal back up and lower my signature and then with the arty I can shoot back at the cruisers while tanking the frigs and setting my little drones on them?

totally different from the way I used to play... hopefully the drones I have cut it... their hammer heads? /shrug

guess it's time to do some adapting... thanks for the help... I'll miss my autocannons... liked getting in close etc... of course now that seems impossible ...

looks like I need more sp before I can tango again.

Mission mechanics aren't different from 3-4 years ago AFAIK. There are a few new missions, but the same old missions you did before haven't changed. I suspect you're remembering things differently from the way they actually were.

I find long range and speed tanking works best for missions. Do not agro the entire room.
Drag out a few at a time kite them and kill them.
If you can boost all your mods to tech 2 then perhaps you can go in toe to toe with a great active tank and kill them all close up.
But you do not have all that tech 2 gear. So then kite them a few at a time. Stay at long range and pick them off.
Even a frigate falls to long range guns easily if it is following you with no angular deflection.
And you can kill them easily long before they get into range.

But this method is slow and time consuming. Still if you are training up to tech 2 stuff well then you got time to kill anyway.
Like you got something better to do? If you do then do it.

Train for T2 tank asap. Use a Destroyer in L2s while you wait for skills to train and re-learn the ropes.

What is all this nonsense about T2 fitting a bird for L3's? Really???

It's pass-through content. Get a cheap T1 fitted Arty 'cane. Grind away for a while. DO NOT focus too much training on BD-specific skills - get the appropriate skills to 3 (maybe 4 for quick trains) - then focus on your BS-related skills. As soon as you have passable skills, get you into a BS and move onto L4's. My only suggestion is to make sure your tank skills are proper so you can T2 tank your BS as soon as you get into it. Your DPS matters less than your tank early on. Losing ships will be a killer. Once you're easily tanking most L4 missions, switch your focus to damage and weapon support skills.

If you want to run mission, get to L4 as soon as you can...never look back. PvP when carebearing gets boring.
