Why are some client updates still being delivered at the login screen?

Wasn't the whole point of the Launcher to avoid that from now on? Every other update making me open the client and reopen it instead of using the awesome launcher makes me a sad panda.

Sad

The Launcher is awesome and hope we can see it used 100%...

My personal guess (throwing pasta at the wall) is that there are various scripted ways to handle deployment of changes at CCP, and some teams of developers haven't gotten the memo to switch to the new way that results in a launcher patch instead of a client patch. Alternatively, due to the nature of the changes, the launcher doesn't work for them.

As a developer, I can confirm that adopting new deployment methods for a large project takes a while, especially if the old ways are still available for the change-averse or for the ones who don't want to refactor code.

It will eventually get better. Patience.

(A statement from CCP on this would be nice, though.)

Wonder how many update screens we'll get when the 2-key authenticators are introduced... and updated.

I run 2 copies of eve, one is a Junction of the first. The launcher patch only need to be run once by the after launcher patches have to be run once per client, so I'm guessing they're installed in the cache files or something.

Dunno if that helps.

In hindsight my post should have had more psssshhhh

I believe it is the subdirectory Machonet under the cache directory that is being updated. Roughly about 5Mb.
