Due to the ridiculously slow game mechanics for increasing security status, I"m pretty much stuck in 0.7 space or lower. My isk has been more or less frozen at a fixed amount due to the fact that I barely do anything other then log in occasionally to adjust skills.

The fact that I'm stuck in this sector of space is my fault. I did something dumb during "Burn Jita". Thought a skull and blinking red meant "KILL". What it really meant is your sec status gets vastly lowered.

Lesson learned.

Although I think CCP's mechanic for raising sec status is probably one of the worst grinds in the history of MMO's, I still want to enjoy this game. This genre of video game is vastly under served and CCP REALLY caught my interest. However, I have neither the wealth or the skills to be a proper pirate. Instead, I"m a noob carebear that made a mistake and now I"m stuck in sub par high sec.

I'm a carebear....or at least until I can afford not to be, but what the hell am I supposed to do? There is no way in hell I"m going to cruise through different systems, killing rats, for a 0.003 increase per system/rat.

I'm not looking for advice. I know how the sec status mechanic works. I'm asking CCP to reconsider how the sec status increase/decrease works.

I enjoy this game a lot, but I really don't see myself paying a monthly fee for much longer when all I do is log in to adjust skills.

I'm tempted to go totally pirate and forget entirely about fixing my sec status, but I"m pretty sure tha requires multiple accounts to be successful.....

You do realize that pretty much any form of carebearing you can do pays better the lower the sec status is right?

Bigger rats increase your sec a lot faster: a 1.8M bounty BS rat will give you a base of +0.025%. Train Fast Talk 4 to increase that by 20% to +0.030% and things get moving pretty quickly again. Even the lower bounty rats you can find in lo-sec belts are worthwhile compared to hi-sec frigate rats.

In short, you can take a risk to increase your gains

Can you fly a Stealth Bomber? If so, you're golden. Slip into a quiet bit of 0.0, work a ring of 5 or 6 systems, kill one high-value BS per system, then move on to the next. Repeat until you have used all your torps, and by the time you're done you should be +ve sec again.

alternatively, embrace the neg sec status, and begin your career in piracy...

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

The security status gain is much too fast to maintain a credible security status. It's terribly tedious to get you down from positive unless you suicide gank in hisec, attacking in lowsec offers only a very tiny improvement, podding in wspace does nothing to your sec status and I think this is just blatantly wrong.

Casual PVPers like me are doomed to live in shame until CCP fixes the mechanics- if I rat in null, I should get no sec status hit. Currently my sec status is in such a state that I'm effectually locked out from killing NPCs in k-space. If it gets any higher, I will just unsub as it would take way too long to grind back down,

Plenty of missions and hubs in .07 space and below. You are not trapped. Or, find a pirate corp. I've bee allowed in .07 space once in the last four months. That lasted a week. It's a not a big deal.

^^ this

Get a stealthbomber and rat in nullsec. (Kill 1 battleship rat per system, ehtn move to the next system. You won't get additional sec gain for killing more rats in one system)

Or better: Join a nullsec corp. Plenty of isk to be made in nullsec.

You clearly don't.

1) the lower the sec status, the better the bounties\rats\rewards to the extent that low sec frigs can be better than high sec cruisers.

2) If you want to boost your sec status, it's pretty easy. Just do the following.

Fly to system A, Fly to a belt, kill a single rat (the bigger the better), fly to system B, fly to a belt, kill a rat (the bigger the better), repeat with system C D E F G H I J K (how ever many you can hit in 20min, I think it's 20 min unless they changed it).

Once you get the sec status "tick" you'll get the boost from all the systems you've hit.

Rather than ratting in 1 system where you'd just get the single sec boost for the single biggest rat you've killed.

In the past, from doing this (admitedly in npc 0.0) I've managed to go from -1.0 to 1.0 in less than a days work of half assed ratting.

Also, high sec is tideous and dull, you should join a decent corp and go pewing and witness the excitement of explosions and penis jokes.

Plenty of things you can do in 0.7 and below, and they pay better then a 1.0 system while giving you the same security.

Plenty of agents in 0.7 and below to run missions for.
Plenty of asteroid belts in 0.7 and below to mine out.

And Hek is 0.5 and one of the major trade hubs.

So problem solved, stop whining about it and start playing.

Hrm,

I was hearing my friend complain that sec was nerfed, so it only updated one BS per 15 minutes, not one tic per 15 mins.

Are you sure you're getting several BS worth of sec when it tics? The same way bounties are now?

My choice of pronouns is based on your avatar. Even if I know what is behind the avatar.

sec is highest gain PER SYSTEM per 15 minutes, counted from the time you kill off the rat. so if you kill a frig, a cruiser, and a BS in a single system ... you're only getting the sec gain for the BS (but you'll get the payout for all three)

He was saying he went through several systems killing one BS, but now he only gets credit for killing one BS per tic.

Grab a high dps frigate head to low sec. Kill one big rat, change system immediately, rinse and repeat. For the moment this is the most rapid way to get your sec status up.

Noir. and Noir Academy are recruiting apply at www.noirmercs.com I Noir Academy: 60 days old must be able to fly at least one tech II frigate. I Noir. Recruits: 4:1 k/d ratio and can fly tech II cruisers.
