Hello,

in the last few days I have been getting lots of random disconnections on my EvE client (systematically every 5 to 30 minutes).
I have run the Log Server and this is the error message I get:

Closing connection to myIPaddress:26000: {'reasonCode': None, 'reason': u'The socket was closed', 'exception': error(10054, 'An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host'), 'reasonArgs': {}}

The very strange thing is that this only happens when using my Windows 7 64bit machine and not when I use my crappy low specs WinXP pc (both in the same network and directly connected to the same modem/router).

I do not think the issue has anything to do with my ISP and router (blocking or shaping traffic to the 26000 port) because if it was, then I would get the same behaviour on both PCs.

Clearing the cache, disabling IPv6 and the repair tool did not fix the problem.

I have filed a petition 2 days ago but CCP are taking their time reacting.

Any ideas?

Ugh

Do you have a client on another pc?
Does one work and the other not?

I'm getting this too now. I thought to blame it on Inferno since I hadn't seen it until that update, but maybe it is something older.

Did anyone find solutions?
It's making EVE pretty much unplayable.

TIA!

Did the restart with no luck but it was even simpler. Last time I had to add some accessories to my box apparently I bumped the antennae on my wifi adapter. tightened them in and no crashes.

So, not a CCP problem, just me.

Getting same error as OP.

My desktop is not having this issue even running 3 clients on Windows Vista hardwired to the router. My laptop however running Windows 7 64bit also hardwired to router (not wireless connection although I tried it wireless and got same error) is now getting socket closed errors after 2nd Inferno patch (seemed fine after first patch). The SOCKET CLOSED error happens from 2 to 35 minutes after login. The only difference I can see on my end is the OS Windows 7 vs Vista. I will double check anti-virus settings to see if any differences there also.

Petitioned this 4 days ago and still no response from CCP at all, and they normally at least email me that they received my petition in the first 24 hours.

Hopefully will find an answer soon. Already reset the router, modem, etc, changed CAT network cables, uninstalled and re-installed EVE on laptop all to no avail.

Just a shot in the dark but do you have windows firewall or some other virus program turned on? Sometimes they don't block the program right away but block it later after it analyzes the traffic.

same-ish problem; on mac laptop.
seems to me the socket closes like a dc when the a wifi signal dips for a bit. maybe the tolerance has been lowered?
i know for a fact my signal ^up\/down but i have never received the error so frequently.

*the, admitted weakness, of my signal was not normally such an issue, but it may be an error/overload of my network affecting connection more than usual

I have been getting these issues aswell.

The SiSi client runs fine though.

Just closed sockets on TQ. Can't even log in to set skills on either of my accounts most days.

This has been around since i started playing in 2008, it will never be fixed and it comes and goes for me all the time despite keeping the same ISP, router and everything.

Anytime I change these it goes away but still comes back at one point.

Bumping again. Issue is still not resolved, I have manually checked my hardware setup and software setup and have found no problems.

Would be nice to get some Dev comments on this situation. I have heard of people having success with 3rd party proxies and proxy-'esque' softwares. I will not be paying another sub just to play this game, I will just be un-subbing my accounts temporarily.

This isn't some kind of threat, it's just a heads-up (looks squarely at CCP.)

Also I would like to remark that the SiSi client still functions flawlessly for me. No closed sockets or reset connections.
