If Corp A is not a Militia Corp and Corp B is a Militia Corp and they enter into an alliance with one another which happens:

1) Nothing, Corp A remains a non-Militia Corp and Corp B remains a Militia Corp forming for all intents and purposes an Alliance with both a Civilian and Militant wing.
2) Corp A becomes a Militia Corp.
3) Corp B becomes a non-Militia Corp.

Where would I find a walkthrough for Corporate Roles and Rights management? Everything I've found tells me what I can do, but not if there is a specific way to go about implementing these things I can do. I ask this since in my last corporation I had some discrepencies between what I thought would happen and what did happen. Specifically, I wanted to give someone rights to select corporate hangers in a specific Office and they instead were given rights to that hanger in all Offices.

When the corp joins an alliance they leave the Militia I thought.

A corp can't be in an alliance and in the militia at the same time.

It is possible to give someone access to only some offices and divisions in those offices.

Role management: set type to "hanger access (based at)"
It has divisions for that office.

What do you mean by "rights to select corporate hangers in a specific Office"?
Sounds like you're saying you want him to be able to select which division he can use.

Thank you for the response about the Militia, it was something I was curious about.

I can see where I was unclear, rather than saying "select corporate hangers" I should have said "specific corporate hangers"

Though as I said, I know what all I can do, but I'm not 100% sure on how to properly implement them.

for example lets say that my corp had an Office in Rens and an Office in Pator, do I have to be present in the Office I want to allow a corpmate access to, in order for that Office to be the only Office that they have access to?

In the last corp I ran, I was attempting to do just that, but rather than running all over, I wanted to do it from my Corp HQ. For whatever reason, the corpmates I was assigning to specific Offices were allowed access to the hangers I chose to allow them access to in every Office.

Must I be in the "Based At" Office? If I assign them an Office in the "Edit Member?" window will that suffice?

The assign base in "edit member" might be sufficient but i've never used it.

I don't think you have to be present to allow them access.
The "based at office/hq" gives you alot more control over what they can do in each division of that office.

From what I remember, since its been a while since i messed with this stuff, hangar/Office access has three 'levels' for want of a better word.

Based At, HQ and Other.

  • Based at requires you to have set a base for the member and will then let them access the office at the base you have set them too. Or at least its meant to, you might want to double check that it actually works. I never use it.
  • HQ allows the member to access the office at the station you have set as HQ.
  • Other allows the member to access all your offices. Including POS hangars etc i think.

You should be able to fiddle with this from anywhere and get it to work. Be aware though that it is a bit of a rubbish tool and can be very hard to get things to work the way you want them to. And that things may not work the way you expect them too. Personally, I use titles (set access rights to the title and assign titles to members) to make things easier, and I always use an alt to test exactly what the titles I create allow someone to do.

This is a pretty good guide.
Another one also has a bit more about bases etc.

Edit: Just for the sake of completeness: you can control POS structure (and therefore hangar) access even more with the POS management screen if you need to.
