Hello, I am currently looking for a nice corp either in lowsec or nullsec. I have three ships in mind that I may want to go for. Either a PVP Archon, PVP Avatar, or a PVP Revelation. I'd rather be a good DPS ship against battleships and higher classes. Basically, I'd want to be a HUGE help in fleet battles :). I have 4.5mil SP, so I'm not even thinking about going for any of those ships yet.

You'd be much more help in a smaller ship.

The efficiency of a ship is not measure by size.

If you have to ask then don't bother.

it's probably a better idea to get a corp fist and then see what kind of ship they need then the other way around

Pretty much this. If you don't know where to get one, then you shouldn't get one.

EDIT: Also based on your caveats I'd recommend Revelation.

As others have said, start small and join a corp you like. By the time you have the SP to think about getting in a capital ship, you should be well established in your corp and will already know precisely what you're going to use said capital for.

As to your original question, depending on the situation, the Archon is your best bet for making a difference in fights. The RR provided by a carrier can make a big difference in small/med sized fights and their fighters can put out decent DPS. In comparison, a titan is so expensive it's usually only used for bridging people from a POS, not actually fighting itself unless you have overwhelming force already or are completely safe. And a dread is only really useful in big cap fights or POS bashes, where it's just one more dread.

So, the carrier can make the biggest impact in a reasonable fight (since titans and dreads can't really be fielded with only 2-3 of them, while a carrier can). However, that's a 2-3 year goal, you're a LONG ways away from that. Focus on getting in a good corp first and the other stuff just falls into place.

I also second the 'Rifter' suggestion. There's a reason I'm handing tackle Rifters out for free to younger PvPers in my corp, they're a nice and cheap introduction to PvP that can actually make an impact in a fight (by keeping the target from trying to leave while the rest of your fleet kills it).

I actualy skilling for an Archon, but well i already have a bit experience in capitalwarfare with my Thani and i know what i want to do with it. :)

As many before me said - start learning the game and you'll get the answer to your question on your own within 1-2 years.

Capitalships are highly specialized.

Revelation(like all dreadnaughts) is only to blow up structures or other capitals(and that is in addition on a high risk)

Avatar is a super expensive Capitalkiller or just a supporting Jumpbridge(better never hit the wrong button) and you'll need an additional account to maintain it +at least a safePOS and u should nevver use it without a big supportfleet - otherwise ppl will make dozens of jumps for your killmail.

The Archon have a bit more options to get used - but you should better never use it alone... well unless you dont demote the archon to a plexrunner in 0.0.
In PvP u can be the triagehero for your gang or a spidertanker to support with RR and Fighters in capitalfights.
Than you needs them to maintain structures after getting shot by hostiles or u can just chill at the edge of a forcefield and asign fighterdrones to your friends.

You should tots get an avatar built.

I'll even offer to do it for you, right here in this c6.

WTF you mean dozens of jumps... hell, I've gone damn near 100 for a titan kill, and we've waited for days with bubbles up to prevent ones that logged off in a place we knew of (like a POS we just murdered) in order to catch it and prevent it from getting away.

To the OP - I highly recommend you learn more about the game before you start looking into capships. You may find (as probably 90% of eve players do) that for the most part, capital ships aren't really worth it and are huge PITA to use effectively.

I have an Archon, but I just use it as my personal trailer.
It is used in fleet fights VERY rarely, almost never.

The skills for a nice carrier take a REALLY long time and if you start now you cannot do anything while training for it, since you don't train any gunnery (missiles) skills.
So you will get bored after a while.

Training caps is something you do when you can fly all the sub-cap ships you want or for an alt-char.

I would vote for the rifter too (they are really needed) , but if you want to be support for your fleet in a non-doctrine ship there are a few possibilities:
- train logistic ships (always in demand and more or less the same playstyle as carriers)
- train Dictors/HICs
- maybe train command ships / T3 incl. Links
- any tackle ship.

But before that you should ask your lead FC . Every FC prefers other setups and if you ask him, which ship to fly because you don't want to be another BC/BS ship pilot he can tell you what is needed and you can choose from that.

First train all CORE PvP skills to 5 then
Set your goals on a Triage carrier or dread and don't look back.
