Bounty system fix ideas

Since the bounty system is mostly for players who are not in a position by choice or otherwise to fight themselves, you could link it to kill rights.

After all if you are more of a PVPer you can always go out and get them

But if i am a highsec miner/manufacturer/missioning and i get suiced ganked for example what use is kill right? Go out and take 5 people on with a Active Shield Tanked mission Raven?

If you do link the bounty system to kill rights, you also go some way towards enusring that people cant just bounty other people at will.

Bounties were/are in general for people who couldnt/cant defend themselves, so it suits.

Another idea, is to link and limit the amount of the bounty to what was lost. So if i have kill rights on someone cause he killed a hauler with goods worth 10million isk, i can place a bounty up to an amount equal to, say, the value of the ship+fittings+cargo value. You can limit that to a percentage of that say 200%. Since its acceptable it seems with the new inventory system, to have estimated value of goods, then this value can be used for the bounty calculation.

So the person that has kill rights can add up to that amount towards a bounty.

You can go several ways from here.

Since what you are interested in is someone that delivers justice for others. The justice part, i.e. that it is just, is taken care of by kill rights.

To accept or receive money as a bounty hunter, you accept bounty contracts for amounts up to the full amount on the bounty. You pay for those rights, so if you do not make good on your contract within a period of time you lose your money.

If you do accept the bounty, you get kill rites on the mark. Every time you kill him, the loot that drops counts towards the value of the bounty.

You effectively can "farm" those "unwanted" characters.

Notice that so far, using kill rights, the person who accepts the bounty doesnt really have to get extra money, than the loot. The fact that he has kill rights, allows him to farm this charachter for money. The loot comes out of the offenders pocket and goes into the person that has accepted the contract, via loot.

To make sure that people dont collect on their own bounties using corp mates, so far since the person that pays and accepts the kill rights on the person with the bounty gets his money out of the loot which is never the full amount of what was destroyed, Its a losing proposition for a teamup, However for a genuine bounty hunter its basicaly a toon with a farm sign on his head.

You can now use the actual bounty money but differently. Since the bounty hunters income is effected from the drops and is made easier via kill rites, the person that placed the bounty to start with just sells the kill rites.

So if i get suicide ganked and lose 500mil worth of ship and fittings, i can sell those kill rites for a percentage of that amount. So say i sell it for 10%. That means that i will get 50mil and someone buys the rights to farm that character for 500mil.

I cannot abuse this, because i have to get kill rights first.

This is all sandbox on the fly ideas

I suggest the designers and devs get on this, someway or other

Its not value for money to have kept for 10 years a bounty system which is broken and instead of punishing , rewards the offenders.

On the other hand you can continue designing avatar customisation screens and station environments and see how far that will get you...

Feel free to criticise and comment

PS. This will also help disengage somewhat corps and more importantly alliances from play styles that their players might adopt. Right now i am in the process of looking for mercs to wipe a corp out of its soveirnty, coz i-dont-like-my-hulk-suicide-ganked. No offence its just *my* playstyle. Unless you really wanna start 0.0 wars because high sec griefers..If that is the extent of the "strategy" in the game...good night and good luck.
