Stupid eve keeps randomly turning my PC off, some times its several times a day, sometimes I don't get it. I know its a graphical setting that does it, does anyone know what setting it is?? using radeon card in this computer. cba switching back to my nvidia

And for those haters, NO its not my computer, its a known issue.

Yes it is your computer, the only time a program will turn off your computer constantly is if your computer is unable to run it properly.

The issue could be your computer overheating, Alot of them have built in fail safes which instead of letting it melt will reboot the system. Usuialy they are only CPU cut offs, but some GFX cards do this as well.

I suggest getting a temperature monitoring program for your graphics card as well as CPU and make sure its not temperature first.

its probably overhating caused initially by graphics card.
what happens is that when the graphics card overheats, sometims it transfer some of that heat onto other chips. This causes a failsafe reboot. Unplug pc from mains when it happens again and quickly check with finger where its unsuallu hot. Becarefull though cos it can be too hot!!!

I had this issue before and i solved it by placing a fan on the top of my graphincs card and it also happens to allign with the chips that used to overheat that caused to reset.

This is very common issue in summer specially with graphincs cards of ATI 4800+ series.

Eve seems to be overheating my GPU.

After the patch, I experienced random shutdowns.. Started monitoring my temperatures closely and found out my graphics card is overheating loading the some 300FPS it will. Before the patch it would run 300fps fine and only reach 64c, but after the patch the temperatures are rising sharply (caught it at 116c, thanks CCP)

Easily fixed by enabling v-sync in the nvidia control panel though and it's fine as it caps the FPS at 60 and runs at a low 34c

I have a feeling it's this new "GPU Particles" effect options. This is probably something you need to test CCP.

Specs:

i5 3570k 3.4GHZ (Watercooled and not oc'd so it's NOT this)
Asus Maximus V Gene
MSI GTX 680 Twin frozr III
8GB Hyperx RAM 1333mhz
Windows 7 64-bit

We have done extensive performance testing on this build. Are you BSODing or just powering off suddenly? If it's just powering off it sounds like machine error rather than something prompted by EVE - overheating, tripping power switch, etc.

Or your PSU is marginal for what you have installed and running inside. So as your power usage spikes, the voltages on the PSU's output lines get wobbly and fall out of tolerance. Which can also be exacerbated by poor AC voltages coming in from the outside.

Try disconnecting extra drives, DVD/CD/BD players.

I had to adjust settings to get eve to stop blue screening on this computer in windows 7, in windows xp it runs fine.

I learned some things from this website, and eased up the timings on the resets, bam, no more bluescreens

Try running something like a Furmark (video card stress test) and see if you computer still shuts down. It most likely is your PSU shutting down because your video card is drawing too much power or one of your components is overheating. You have a high end card so not every new game is going to tax it to its full potential. If its a heat problem then check for dust in your heatsinks/radiators and make sure the heatsink is fully applied to your card with a decent amount of thermal paste.

heh, no. Its just eve, I have tortured my comuter with that and other prgrams for a total for over 40 hours when I got my new video card. For me the problem is related to : EVE, windows 7(maybe just my install) and Timeout Detection and Recovery (TDR)

In Windows, the default setting is typically to restart automatically and instantly on a blue-screen (user- or kernel-mode driver error) instead of actually displaying the bluescreen with the driver causing the issues on it.

This link tells you how to enable bluescreens and disable the auto-restart so you can get the useful information from the BSOD or see if that is, in fact, what is happening:

well, post your pc spec cpu, graphics, ram etc power supply maybe some of us will be able to help some more with specs to look at, it could be something simple like a hard drive failure. most blue screens are heat related.
