Expanding the Universe

I know this idea has probably been brought up...And frankly I see a lot of issues with implementing it soon.

But in all the years EVE has been around, I can't recall any events when the universe was actually expanded. So maybe its coming time to expand the size of the universe by adding some new region to the game full of strife and war and great treasure, new enemies and allies. Full of adventure and discovery, or great fame.

Obviously I don't wan't to specify any specifics as to how it would be done. I just wanted to bring it up. Perhaps its about that time. Don't take this suggestion as a way to skip out on all the wonderful balance work you are doing. Inferno was a step in the right direction with the game I feel.

So yes, continue to balance the game...But just have it on the drawing board. What would EVE look like should some corporation, who was probing the outer galaxy in secret, set up a new network of jump gates and expanded the frontier in new amazing ways.

I think EVE doesn't need more space at the moment, until subscriptions start rolling in by the tens of thousands.

If it was a system like any other - no need as for reason stated above.

If it was a special system - Why not apply these special things to the entire universe? Instead of making one system interesting, make the entire universe interesting with these changes.

There's been a few ideas on expansion of space, and some of them are really cool, so if there's anything really fleshed out I may give it my thumbs up, but I'm generally of the opinion that the current space we have should be improved. Quality over quantity, you know?

There are quite a few systems/constellations that are pretty lighting populated, or even devoid of life at all. Until these places start getting crowded (fat chance) I see no need for this.

Last times solar systems were added were W-space systems and the "Black rise" region with faction warfare.

Are they lightly populated?

Why?

How is it we have systems so overcrowded, like Jita, and still have places so unpopular?

Make no mistake, lightly populated simply translates into unpopular.

And no amount of player influx will make them more popular. At most you will get spillover that wanted to be somewhere else.

Um, Jita is not overcrowded per se...it is just a market hub so people go there to get the cheapest prices. There are no ghettos of poor capsuleers in Jita moaning for freedom to roam.

Eve is not overcrowded, the number of systems was increased by a LARGE factor with WH space.

If you don't believe me, go on a roam into the back of Paragon Soul some time and tell me how full and small Eve is.

and before that the drone regions.

The main reason that we need new regions added is because new frontiers are good at driving conflict.

How many? I'd say that 3-4 null-sec regions, filling in the gaps in the map would not be that bad. You're only talking about adding 300-400 star systems.

"Only"? EVE is already pretty empty. Existing space needs to be more itneresting before there's any point in adding new space.

Do you really want to give more space to the clusterfuck, solar and AAA? Since I assume that by 'gaps' you mean things like tenal-cobolt edge in the NE, period basis - paragon soul down in the south and maybe fountain-delve, or Deklein-branch?

Why add regions? Personally i'd be closer to removing them. Even the biggest alliances find themselves overstretched when they are trying to control but a handful of regions. If you reduced the amount of regions, we'd have more competitive fighting over null since everybody would feel cornered.

So either increase the subscriptions to this game by twofold or just.. don't add more space.
