Stopped reading here.

Europe and co-operating is a strong oxymoron.
We can't even co-operate at deciding if chocolate is made of chocolate or other assorted brown junk.

Dont worry, once Europe has finished back stabbing each others member states over the circling debt mountains, im sure they won't have time to worry about such things, even the chocolate related ones.. whatever is left of Europe anyway.. probably not much.Pirate

Someone is forgetting the DOPA etc laws in america, if anyone is gonna "shut down" the internet it will start there.
Over half of ther EU/Asian DNS servers are owned by american companies aswell so still fall under those laws.
Yes EU is currnetly a **** hole but having a mountain of debts is better then having a entirely diferent planet for it (US)

Worst case, we go back to how it was before the internet was so easily navigable, with everyone learning stacks of IPs to manually connect to.

Um...no. You've no idea how the internet works. Nor do you have a clue how government and private businesses work. Basically, government says "If you want to make money you will do this". Private businesses say "Yes, Sir". Granted large multinationals truly control governments so, if the governments want something like internet ID's to be implemented then it's only because those large multinationals want it.

With the ability to know exactly who you are comes the ability to know exactly what you're doing on the internet. This is big business' dream. So, why wouldn't they be pushing the government for it? They would, probably are. So, it will happen.

First ive heard about internet ID's. But hey i am "that troll living under the bridge".

If any government attempted to implament such a breech on our human rights - freedom of speach and information- im farily sure there would be an uproar, or maybe a mummble follwed by everyone using IP# masks IPNs ^^

Peronsaly I am outraged hearing about this, people in the past died for our freedom, and now people are slowly bit by bit removing and imposing on our freedom.

People in the past also didn't have $1.69 six-pair socks from Walmart.

I wrote some true EVE stories! And no, they're not of the generic "my 0.0 alliance had lots of 0.0 fleets and took a lot of 0.0 space" sort. Check them out here:

that's actually why I said this. there's practically no chance of all the member states of europe working together, and them doing that would probably be the biggest single threat to the internet.

Unfortunately because of many shïtcrap dudes internet it's more of a hyper bullies server than actually a place where you communicate with your friends and make yourself new ones.

-racism is all over the place, even in eve forums if you take the time to read some threads.

-bullying is not an exception but the norm

-cyber crime cost billions to citizens because there's no real laws or someone to make them be applied. In some extreme cases it does but those making it are seen like old west sherifs rather than people protecting your personal rights and dignity

The fact I have an internet ID? -I have nothing to hide so what risk am I taking? -none
However, cyber criminals of all kinds for sure WILL never want this.

How much of an internet bullie/criminal someone would be knowing at any moment he can get his ass kicked to jail because he's rights stop when someone else's start? -a little bit less I think

No need to continue with more examples
