Load chat-log for the last few minutes upon log-in

Just a little thought that crossed my mind:

Have you ever tried logging into the game, and find yourself right in the middle of a discussion? Well, I know I have on multiple occasions, and as such, I propose a little change/improvement to the chat-channels. How about loading the chat-log for the last few (up to 5) minutes when you log in? It wouldn't make anything harder for anyone, in fact, it'll do the opposite (well, maybe it'll be hard for CCP to program it, but it won't negatively affect any of us players).

I don't know a lot about programming, so don't yell at me if this is impossible (I believe you can just store the data in a kind of buffer like you do when you watch a video on youtube or play flash-games). I just think this could be a very nice, little addition.

Note: This does not make it harder to plan a coup or arrange a large-scale corp-mutiny if that's your thing. There will still be private-chats and public channels (though planning corp-treason isn't something I'd consider talking about in a public channel either).

While definitely a nice feature, I doubt it'll be done. Why? Go to your EVE folder (mine is on c:\Users\Documents), then navigate to "EVE\logs\Chatlogs\". Here you'll find logs of the chats that you've been a part of (and boy are there a lot after 10 months...). Why am I pointing this out? Because the way chatlogs works now, is by being stored on your local computer - not CCP's server. To be honest, I doubt they store any chat at all, though I may be wrong. Assuming it's only stored client side, then CCP would have to rework the chat-system, before being able to do this. And that would take lots of man-hours away from more important things, such as giving us shrubberies in our CQs (do a search...).

Of course, I could be wrong and they store everything, in which case it's a few lines of code. Then comes the debate - how far back should it load? The last 10 chats? 20? 5 minutes? 10 minutes? How much is enough and what is to much?
